You never forget your first ghost. Yeah. Very true. And now that first ghost is gone. Well actually, I am. I'm probably going to die... again? I don't know what's going to happen. All I know is that the jolts hurt and we're laying on the floor of the studio and Julie is probably going to walk in.
"We should go somewhere else after we poof out! Julie might come looking for us." I said to Luke and Reggie but neither of them listened. Instead, we poofed back to the studio. About an hour later we were still here. In pain. And guess who walked in... Julie Molina of Julie and the Phantoms. Wow. Imagine. That.
Julie walked into the garage. "I... I know I already said this but, uh... thank you, guys."
"You're welcome." Reggie said, holding in groans of pain.
I groaned. Seriously?
"Dude!" I heard Luke shout.
We were all coughing and groaning at this point from the pain that the jolts had us in.
"Why... Why are you here? I... I thought..." Julie was at a loss for words.
Another jolt buzzed through our bodies. The pain always worse than the last.
"No... no! I thought you crossed over. Why didn't you cross over?"
"I guess playing the Orpheum wasn't our unfinished business."
"Point Caleb."
"We wanted you to think
that we crossed over, so we pretended to."
"We just... We had nowhere else to go."
"We thought you'd go straight to bed."
"Yeah, well, I knew she was gonna come out here, but nobody ever listens to me." Nobody ever listens to me.
Another jolt. The pain always worse than the last.
"You have to save yourselves right now. Go join Caleb's club. Please. It's better than not existing at all. Please just go. Go! Poof out! Do something! Please. Do it for me. Please."
"We're not going back there," Luke breathed out heavily. "No music is worth making, Julie, if we're not making it with you. No regrets." Luke's breath now shaky.
Julie sniffled and they were both sobbing.
Bleh. Straight people. Although Luke is pan. Although this is a heartbreaking moment because we're "dying".
Julie sniffled some more. "I love you guys." She exhaled slowly, bouncing up on her tiptoes to give Luke a hug.
She gave Luke a hug. Julie is giving Luke a hug. Luke. A ghost. Dead person. A hug?!
"How can I feel you?"
"I... I... I don't know," Luke looked into Julie's eyes. He was... glowing. "I feel stronger."
"Alex, Reggie, come." She gestured for us to come over so we got up and walked over to the pair where they were standing.
We all pulled each other in for a hug.
"Whoa... I... I... I don't feel as weak anymore." Reggie let out.
"Yeah, me neither," I agreed. "Not that, you know, I was ever that weak."
We all chuckled and looked down at our wrists where the tattoos from the Hollywood Ghost Club once marked our skin. The tattoos faded into purple sparkle like things that floated into the air above us.
"What... What do you think that means?" Julie asked.
Luke smiled. "I think the band's back."
"You guys think we could try that hug thing one more time?" I could really use a hug.
"Yeah."
"Hugs are good."
We all laughed.
"I like this." Reggie smiled.
"Me too." Julie agreed. "Aww!"
"We played the Orpheum!" Julie shouted as we stayed in our group hug but jumped up and down in a circle. "Whoo!"
"Yeah, we did!" I shouted. But that good feeling moment was cut short when I realized.
Willie.
