"Y/n, are you okay? You've gone silent."
You were pulled back into reality when you heard Kirishima's comforting voice from the other side of the discord call. Slightly stunned, you let out a small giggle and confirmed that you were alright, just lost in thought about nothing in particular.
Currently, you were on call to the whole group (Ashido, Kaminari, Kirishima, and, of course, Sero), discussing future plans for the group channel. Since you didn't live at U.A as they did, their uploading schedule had somewhat fallen apart, and they hadn't uploaded in nearly three weeks. You'd insisted that you didn't mind not being on that channel, but they felt guilty and wanted to do something with you, so the fans got used to you being around more.
Kaminari had actually come up with some pretty good ideas, such as going to a trampoline park, having a camping trip, or all of them dash to your house and do some sort of cooking video. However, since you still lived with family, that'd be pretty difficult to do. Sero had already asked Mr Aizawa if they could invite you over to the dorms, but he'd refused since that was a health and safety violation and against the rules.
So, you claimed that you were just thinking about ideas rather than actually telling them the truth.
Ever since that small controversy you'd been in, your mental health had declined a little. Despite it not being your fault, you felt guilty for getting Sero in trouble and people thinking he was unloyal (even though you weren't even dating him), and you hadn't spoken to the group much in the past few day except for the one stream you did with Ashido the day before. Sero had noticed and tried to contact you, but the conversations seemed to die within a few minutes.
Being in controversy was difficult as hell.
A small ping left your computer, and you glanced over at it to see a private message from Sero, asking to call you without the others there. You cocked your head, and you were about to say something until you realised you'd been kicked from the call. Frowning, you then noticed that Sero was calling you, and you hesitantly answered.
"Hey, Y/n? Are you alright?" his calm voice asked, and you could hear a hint of worry in his tone. "You've been really quiet today."
"Yeah, sorry, I'm just really tired," you lied, and you face-palmed at how shitty an excuse that was.
"I'm not stupid, Y/n," Sero said, and you flinched at his words. "Mina used that excuse whenever she was upset, and plus, it's been five days since we had a proper conversation. Did I do something wrong?"
"No, it's not you," you chuckled, feeling even worse that he was blaming himself. "I just..."
Your words faltered. You didn't want to admit to him that you felt guilty for him getting somewhat cancelled, because you knew he'd been through worse, yet there was no way he'd let you get away from his questioning. He really cared about you and hated when you were upset or being distant, so of course, he'd try his best to get to the bottom of it.
Plus, you didn't want to admit that you'd seen a small group of hate accounts targetting you either.
"Y/n, you know you can talk to me whenever you need it, right?" Sero said, and you smiled sadly, looking down at your hands and knees. Your heart raced against your chest, and you looked back up at the greyish-purple screen. Both your cameras were off, but for a few seconds, you wished he'd turn his on just so you could see his face. In fact, you wished he was there with you, so you could hold him tight as your worries faded away. But, since you lived quite a drive away, there was no way you could. "Y/n?"
"Oh yeah, yeah I know," you replied, realising you hadn't actually answered his question. "Thank you, Hanta."
"You're upset because I almost got cancelled, aren't you?" he asked, and you sighed, indicating that he was correct. "This is your first 'Twitter Drama', as Denki and Mina like to call it, so I can totally understand why you're upset. I was when I got cancelled for the first time, and do you wanna know why I got cancelled?"
