Heart fluttering in your chest, you took a deep, heavy breath. It had been a little over a week since the incident. Multiple police interviews, public statements, social media uproar, conspiracy theories... it was all becoming a little too much a little too quickly. And yet, finally, you had a second to breathe. The lingering smell of black coffee stained the air as you kicked your legs underneath the table of the local cafe, a black hood hiding your identity as best it could without looking suspicious. The overwhelming number of members of the public who now knew you by name was in the millions, especially considering your face had been plastered all across the news since the villanry. Millions questioning your identity outside of the mask you wore on platforms such as Twitch and Youtube was something you had NOT been prepared for.Earbuds pressed firmly in your ear, music gently started playing as you sipped on your morning brew, popping up a browser to research further into the attack. The wound may still be fresh, but the world continues to turn, and you had barely any time to even relax. While Sero, Ashido, Kaminari & Kirishima were out on their studies and hero... stuff, your mind continuously replayed the moments to the point of borderline insanity. It was clear it wasn't just those three behind this, and you were curious to find out more.
Jitsuko Park...
The name rang too many bells to be coincidence. Things didn't seem to make sense, and the police were hiding things from you. She KNEW you were quirkless. That's why you were the target. The others just assumed you were paranoid, but how could they possibly understand? None of them knew about your lack of quirk except for Sero, but even he seemed to be brushing you off. His excuse was that he's always working, but deep down you knew he felt guilt for not being there. Regardless of it not being his fault, he was burying himself in work, whether it was studying, paperwork, or swooping to a different town for a hero mission he wasn't even called in for. It was frustrating, and regardless of what you tried to say, to get through to him, it never worked.
And now he wasn't replying to ANY of your texts.
"Fuck him..." you muttered under your breath, glancing back at your new burner phone to see he'd still not replied. Kicking your legs up, you took another sip. If he wasn't going to reply, then clearly he was too busy. "Whatever..."
Scanning through the internet, on browser fifteen, you continued to scroll through police report after police report on this Jitsuko person, but all you could find was the incident that had just occured. Other than two restraining orders, a stalking case & a petty theft charge, she hadn't been in trouble. In fact, her criminal record was relatively short and considering the extent of her recent crime, things didn't really seem to add up. The other two men with her were using fake names, but their identities were still completely unknown to even law enforcement, but their faces didn't seem to match any criminals in the data base. There were a few people on Twitter claiming to know of them, but it was apparent they were either rage-bait or trolling. Gradually getting more frustrated, you slammed the laptop lid down, running your hands over your face with a groan. Nothing was making sense and it felt like you were going insane.
"Someone's in a bad mood," a familiar voice uttered beside you. Taken aback, you jumped up, fist flailing, only to be caught by the wrist. "Attacking me now? That's a new low."
"Hitoshi," you sighed, relaxing as you recognised his dusty purple hair and signature smug-look. "You're an asshole. You could've said 'Hi'."
"Well, I wasn't expecting you to lunge for me," he teased, sitting right beside you and shaking his head. "And I'm the paranoid one, right?"
Rolling your eyes, you pulled your laptop up, showing him the masses upon masses of information you had stored on both the internet and your desktop. Furrowing his brows, he leaning forward to read what you'd pulled up, only to shake his head. "Y/n, you're being silly."
