Shi Won's POV

''How can you accuse something on me? Your employees are so rude...'' - She rambled on and on about our error to the boss most of which doesn't even exist. I stood there with my eyes close, desperately wanting this to end quickly then I can go back to the kitchen, and distract myself from this shits.

''Miss, if you may know, we have CCTV footage to show you whether we're right or not. Apologize before I put this whole situation on media, I bet you'll hate that.'' - In Woo said before pulling out his phone. He was about to type down the code of the CCTV footage before the lady stopped him.

''S-sorry.''

''No, not to me. Say sorry to him.'' - He indicated me and I shifted my gaze toward them. She apologizes before taking her to leave.

''I'm sorry too. I should've known the matter before accusing you of something you didn't do and think about fire you.'' - He said and I nodded. Thank god I'm not fired.

''Aren't you gonna say 'thank you' or something like 'I owe you''' - He looked at me with hope in his eyes and I shot back an expressionless glare at him.

''No'' - With that, I went back to the kitchen and start making chocolate cupcakes now.

After finishing a long set of chocolate cupcakes, my phone rang, indicating to me that Shi Young's school will end in 15 minutes. I was counting the cakes when I found I made a cupcake extra and it won't fit in the bakery showcase. I was thinking about what I could probably do with this. Since I can't give it to Shi young because of the peanuts I put it in, she's allergic to it. And I hate chocolate. Then an idea popped into my brain and I went inside the kitchen. I took the frosting bag and typed 'Thank you' on the cake.

I searched for In Woo for a minute who was now in a deep conversation with some of the customers. I waited for my turn and when he turned around I shoved the cupcake in his hand. He looked down before bringing out a devilish smirk.

''Thought you wouldn't say 'thank you''' - He smiled and I frowned.

''I didn't say, I wrote it so it doesn't count.'' - Basically I'm too shy to deal with 'sorry' and 'thank you's. That's why I didn't...couldn't say thank you back then. But now I feel kinda proud of my quick answer.

''That's the same meaning.'' - He said before giving me a look that I couldn't quite catch. And then I remember I was late and I began to pace toward the front door before waving a simple 'bye' which was equally shocking to me and In Woo. Wow now I'm surprising myself.

Two weeks have passed since the incident has happened. Everything is the same as it was before, except for a few things. Like, the boss has become a little softer with me, the employees are now a little friendly toward me and most of all In Woo is now way too clingy to me. Not the type of clingy you see in rom-com dramas, it's more like annoying clingy... and also friendly clingy. He'd ask me about myself, tell me jokes and all that other friends do. But then I can't seem to be equally friendly to him moreover I mostly ignore him and I don't know the reason. Is it because I'm afraid of friendship or I don't wanna interact at all? I don't know. Sometimes I wanna slap myself because of the way I behave with him.

''So what are you making today?'' - In Woo asked from the side and I chuckled lightly, not showing much, before uttering out a ''vanilla pudding''. Nowadays I found myself laughing at the simplest thing he does and sometimes I think how'd it feel to have a friend. Should I just give in to his friendship?

''We're out of strawberry pastries and cheesecakes. Oh and chocolate pudding too.'' - Jae In said from the counter. I sighed, I have to pick up Shi Young and I also have the night time shift at a convenience store.

''Why are you signing? You love to bake, don't you?''

''I love but I have to pick my sis. Her school ends around 4.''

''Don't worry I'll pick her up. Just tell me the school and name.''

''You will?''

''Yeah. And show me a photo of her. It'll help to find her sooner.''

''T-Thanks''

''Haha no need for that''

In Woo's POV

I was surprised when he thanked me cause it was so unlike of him. I had a bad feeling that there must have been a good reason why he's so quiet. Not that Quite quite, he was sassy sometimes but he hates talking and my mind keeps telling me to be on his side even though he doesn't want me to be on his side, it's written on his face. I see him as me sometimes because of which I want to be his friend. I also had a tragic past which is why I had no friends back then.

After getting his sister's photo I went to pick her up. It took me 17 minutes to find out the school even though Shi Won directed me well. I went inside the school but didn't spot her. I look around before I saw her in a corner, but she wasn't alone there. I felt horrible at the sight in front of me. I felt a single tear fall as my memory of a year ago started to show up.

She was getting beaten
