02: new kid

The next day came, and Maya knew what was coming her way when she decided to accept Sungchan's offer to walk together to school.

After practice, only the soccer team would see the two so there weren't any issues with them walking out of school. However, the short girl knew she was receiving dirty looks, but she chose to ignore it and look straight ahead (and at Sungchan, whenever he talked). 

The dirty looks she had received today however, had specifically come from a friend group of three.

One of them however, decided to mutter to her friend, "I told you they were dating! She was just lying when we asked—"

"Please, Aria, shut up about my friend and I. We live in the same area, and she's staying over at my house for a bit, so we decided to walk over together. She didn't lie to you at all." A pissed off looking Sungchan was standing intimidatingly in front of her, other students watching as he did so.

"Sung, you idiot, they're gonna make rumours—!" "Rumours are rumours, let them talk without us looking, at least we know what's true!"

"..." Without any further ado, Maya just nodded, as Risa joined the two.

The tall boy smiled, "The dwarf has come to the rescue? Ah, wait, no, she's just as slow as a turtle-"

Risa scoffed, smacking away Sungchan's arm that was about to drop on her head, "Shut up giraffe! You already rescued yourselves from the terrible trio, let's just head to class since we all share it."

The three headed off to their class, talking about how they all forgot to do the homework assigned to them a few days ago.

Sitting in class, they were relieved that they arrived before the teacher — although, she came a few seconds after they had sat down on a four sided table.

"Good morning class! Today we have a new student joining us from Japan— welcome, Shotaro Osaki!"

The boy entered, looking nervous, but everyone greeted the boy by clapping.

"Is there anyone who's willing to take him in?"

"Yes!" Maya cut in quickly, initially surprising both Sungchan and Risa. Then they remembered, the pink haired girl was often the one to volunteer to welcome new students, feeling a somewhat older-sibling duty. That was if, no one else was willing to take in, or had taken in, the new student just yet.

Shotaro walked over to the three, sitting down on the table as Maya, Sungchan and Risa introduced themselves to the innocent looking boy.

"Alright class, now that we're finished with that, let's introduce our first assignment this term! You guys will be in your table groups as that makes it easier for all of us. You will have to research any cartoon movie of your choice, as long as it's approved by me, and write a story about two characters, either before or after the events of the film, or it can be during a gap in the film..."
