The man was
back again. The
king barely paid
him notice before,
but now it
felt impossible to
ignore him.
“I will not
let you do
this to yourself,
or to your
kingdom. You owe
them more.”
“I never wanted
to be king.
You know that?
I never wanted
this. My father …”
“Was an awful
ruler. Would make
anyone think the
job was horrid.
But you? You
could be great.”
“I want them
to stop fighting
and killing one
another.”
“Then make them.”
