Roman's POV
Another day passed. We had about half a plan, but no way to ensure this to work, no way to ensure we'd be soon enough. No way to be sure we'd save everyone.
So I just kept scribbling on the floor, trying hard as I might, no matter how much Logan told me it was hopeless.
"I've got it!" I tossed the chalk down. This was the one!
"No, you don't," Logan sighed.
"Do you want to die, or will you hear me out?"
Logan raised an eyebrow skeptically, but was silent.
"Ok, we all know that people come in... when? about once every week?"
"That does seem accurate, yes," Logan cocked his head.
"And the last visit was roughly..." I prompted.
"Two days ago,"
"Well, there's no way that they'll kill anyone else 'till... at least a week," I guessed.
"Perhaps,"
"So when someone gets called to go up, defenses lighten, we go get the other two, and get out!" I was ecstatic, my mind and heart racing. I illustrated a few lines and dots to show motion and people.
"And how do you plan to do that? To get out?" Logan sighed, dismissing me.
"We hide! And when the parents leave, we sneak out while the fence is unelec-" I finished the drawn-out plan and tossed the chalk down, but was interrupted before finishing my sentence.
"No! No, no, we can't, I won't, it won't work!" Logan said immediately, getting up and storming to his bed, sitting down.
"L-Logan?" Virgil got up. Patton followed, and so did I.
"That... this...," Tears were streaming down his face, "That was the plan...,"
"...That got Emile killed," Patton realized.
"We'd been too late... the fence was electrified... No, no, I won't let this...,"
"But it could work. You were too late before, but... Not this time," I stood up. How ironic. The plan that ruined him could very well save them all. All I'd have to do was convince Logan... Hopefully, that was all I'd have to do.
