Patton's POV

I looked down at Logan. He was almost crying, hands buried in his hair, and Roman was sitting with his hands in his lap, Virgil laying facing the wall like Logan had been. And then the door clicked open. Logan sat up. Virgil turned around in bed and got up. Roman jumped down from the bed.

"What-?" I asked.

"Lunch," Roman grabbed Virgil's hand, "Just follow us,"

I got down and looked at Logan. He shooed me away.

"He only comes with us sometimes," Roman said, waving me towards him. That was when I noticed how- almost painfully- thin Logan was.

"That can't be healthy!" I protested.

"I learned not to fight him about this,"

"Just go, please," Logan looked dejected.

"At least come with. You don't have to eat,"

Logan looked like he was about to object, but stood up.

"Fine,"

We walked out the door and Roman led us down the hall, to a staircase that led down into a further basement. There were endless rows of tables, the room was the size of the building, at least the top part. The room was painted white with a beige stripe across the walls. Round tables were all around the room, more than I could count. People were sitting scattered around the room. Logan began walking towards the other side of the room but stopped.

"I'll invite someone over if that's alright,"

"Sure," Roman led us to an empty table. We sat down, and I saw Logan talking to two people on the other side of the room. There were plates on the table, filled with plain white rice. Roman began eating, without a spoon or anything.

"This is it?" I asked.

"Yeah. Nothing fancy," Virgil sighed.

Logan walked back over to us, with two people.

"Janus and Remus," He introduced, pointing to each of them.

Janus had the aforementioned scars along the left side of his face and arms, including a very prominent scar from the crook of his mouth to his ear, his blond hair spiky and almost bleached looking. He was as thin as Logan, and just as lean and strong. He wore a yellow sweater and black sweatpants and altogether made a pretty picture. I blushed, taken by surprise by how darn cute he really was. He nodded at us.

Remus wore a black shirt and lime green leggings. His brown eyes kept drifting as if he was trying to take in everything at once, and his hands fidgeted with all they could. He looked like he was scheming something, and had that sort of grin like- "You don't know half of what I can do, or of what I know,". He had dark brown hair with a slightly faded white streak through the front. I also noticed how Logan looked at him like he noticed all that and more, and thought all of it was endearing. Remus waved.

Logan's POV

They sat down.

"I have an idea! To escape!" Remus yelled.

"What is it?" Roman looked happy that he wasn't the only one who made plans. Janus and I sighed, neither of us eating.

"We leave our cells at lunch, and we go up the stairs, go outside, and scale the wall!"

"That was the last plan," Janus said.

"That was how I got this. And Emile-," I gestured to my face, but when my voice cut out, my hands fell to the table, which Remus and Janus held until my breathing steadied. Emile's body flashed in front of my eyes, I heard Remus yell something about his arm, Janus's face was torn and bleeding, mine was aching, I couldn't see out of one of my eyes, and it was wet with blood. Janus passed out, and my vision was fading too.

Remus hugged me and I shook back to reality.

"Sorry. You know I forget things since the time I tried to get out alone," Remus said. He'd gotten zapped by the fence and hit his head.

I held Remus's hands that were still hugging me.

"So no escape, then?" Roman asked, his mouth full. Virgil elbowed him, and Patton laughed.

The alarm, signaling the end of lunch, went off. I stood up.

------------

So Logan's pretty much got anorexia and PTSD, both stemming from a year before the story takes place when they tried to escape. Janus also has anorexia.

(((depictions of these mental illnesses may not be perfectly accurate, I'm trying my best, but they're plot-important, so if you can give me some pointers?)))
