"Sanjuuu.. where is my bag? Im getting late for office" she shouted while struggling to slide the comb down her curly hair. She got frustrated and threw the comb on bed and tied her hair with a band and walked into the hall. She sighed and took the bag that was hanging on the chair and started searching for her husband. Suddenly, a soft pleasant laugh of a baby girl echoed from a room; "No dada, please stop hahaha" she giggled. Myra started walking into the baby girl's room and saw her husband swinging her in the air and playing with her.
"Sanjuu! How many times should I tell you to get ready ?! We are getting late. My boss has been calling me since morning. I told you that I have an important client meeting today and ..." she kept ranting as she walked into the kitchen to finish preparing breakfast.
The two notorious creatures were imitating Myra as her voice kept fading while she walked out. " I know that you both are mocking me. Now get dressed and be on dinning table in 5 mins or I dont know what I will do " she shouted angrily while she set the breakfast on table.
Both rushed and started getting ready. Then, they ran towards the dinning table as if they would get a price for coming first. The little girl raced towards the table like a baby rat with her small feet and jump into her little blue chair. Then, she looked at her dad and put her tongue out since he lost the challenge.
He giggled and asked his wife " Where is Sam? He must be done with his table tennis by now right?".
Just when Myra was going to reply, Sameer came into the house and started removing his shoes. The parents looked at each other and smiled. The 12 year old went and washed his hands and walked towards the table for breakfast.
" Eww! You stink! " said baby Zara.
Sameer hugged his baby sister with all his love and kissed her cheek just to rub all the sweat on her.
"Arghhh! I hate you" she grunted. The rest of the family laughed and all sat to eat their breakfast. Sameer finished his breakfast soon because he had to take shower and get ready for school, while the rest were still in the hall.
It was just a casual day in a small warm family." Looks like Sam will take time to shower and get ready. Why don't you go by yourself for today? You are already getting late right? I'll drop the kids at school on my way to office. What say?" Said Sanjeev looking at Myra while she was putting on her long earings.
Checking herself in the long mirror and setting her skirt, she said " Hmmm okay, don't be late and don't forget to switch off the lights and fans before you leave. You always tend to forget" she said turning towards him with her eyes popped out of her small face.
Both the daughter and dad winked at each other when mom said okay. She picked her bag and keys and went out.
" One, Two, Three.." said Sanjeev and Zara together and swiftly Myra opened the door walking towards kitchen murmuring "I turned off the gas right?". Both the daughter and dad looked at each other and laughed loudly.
"What happened?" said the forgetful mom.
"Nothing" they said and started giggling. Myra left murmuring again and closed the door.
After few mins, Sameer came out all dressed and all the three left with their bags like "The Expendables" and sat in the car. Dad put on some songs and started talking to the kids about their school and friends. When they reached school, dad kissed his daughter on her forehead and gave a fist bump to his son and bid goodbye to them. As soon as he got back in the car, he switched to his regular playlist with all Rock and Hip-Hop songs, put on his shades, and became a rockstar in his own world while he drove to his office. It was 1 pm and his phone buzzed while he was in his cubical gossiping with his friend Radha.
"Yes babe?"
"Did you have lunch?" she asked.
"Uhmm Not yet. I had a meeting till now" he lied.
"Oh. Then why is Radha in your cubical and gossiping with you? She just replied to me" she got infuriated.
"Uhmm okay gota go. Boss is calling. Muahh! Love you" he ended the call and hit on Radha's head and scolded for telling his wife. He went to Subway and grabbed a foot long and sat with his colleagues. After lunch, he got dipped in his work and lost track on time. His watch beeped at 5 pm. He wrapped up for the day and started driving home. He called Myra on his way home.
He connected the call on bluetooth and asked "Did you pick up the kids? Or did you ask Nanny to pick them up?"
Suddenly his ears hurt for the noise that little devil was doing. " Mamaa! Sammy is not giving me my magic wand. Tell him to give it to mee.. Mamaa! Mamaa!"
"Hello.. I can't hear you..what?.." she shouted on phone. Hearing her mom talk on phone, she shouted " Is it dada? Dadaaa! Sammy took my wand again. He is not giving it dada. Tell him to give."
"Hushhhh... I understood." he sighed.
"Dadaaaa!!!" screamed the little trouble-maker.
"Haan beta. Im coming home. I'll come and teach him a lesson okay na? Till then don't fight. Dont trouble your mama. Be a good girl. If you do so, I will get you that unicorn toy you wanted. Okay?"
"Unicornnn!" through her voice, he could imagine her big brown eyes turn into hearts with that excitement. "Yayy! Okay daddoooo"
"Hahaha.. acha listen Myra, Are the Kundans' coming for dinner tonight?" he asked.
"No babe. Mrs. Kundan said that her mother-in-law is sick and so they can't make it for tonight's dinner" she replied.
"Oh okay. Im going to buy the toy for her and come home. Chalo. Bye"
"Zara! Zara! Dont touch that bowl. It is hot.." and she cut the call.
"Hahaha" he laughed by himself thinking what a naughty, adorable, troublesome family he has got.
He went to toy store and bought the unicorn she loved and reached home in an hour. He parked his car in the garage and opened the door and got shook seeing the scenario in the hall. Both the mother and daughter did make up, dressed up in pretty frocks and started doing ramp walk in the centre. While the music played loud in the background, Sameer's job was to keep changing the lights for the vibe. He sat in the sofa with his hand on head, cursing his fate.
Sanjeev came and kept shouting "what is going on?"
But no one cared except Sameer when he felt relieved hoping his dad would rescue him from this drama. Both the son and dad looked at each other, and slowly that evil smile was glowing in their faces. The son immediately started tuning the track to a local folk song, while the dad started losening his tie, folded his sleeves up and untucked his shirt, giving a serious look to the ladies. As soon as the song played " Dhaari choodu..dhummu choodu mamaa..." both the boys jumped and started dancing teenmaar with full energy in the centre of the hall. Both the ladies got startled and moved aside looking at them dance wild and carelessly. Now the ladies party got a notorious idea and slowly walked towards the plug point and turned off the music. The ladies folded their hands and looked at the gents with an attitude. The boys stopped dancing and gave a look as if they won the challenge and left to their rooms. Mom and daughter hit hi-fives and went to their rooms to change.
