"What do you think of the new house?" My dad asked.

"It's nice but isn't it too big for the two of us?" (picture included in media)

"We can turn the extra room into a guest bedroom. And you get your own bathroom. I thought you might like that."

I chuckle. "I do like that. Thanks dad. I'm gonna go exploring."

"Just be back in time for dinner please."

"Okay dad, see you later.' I ran out the door. New York is just as beautiful as I remember. Green and full of nature. I walk around the neighborhood for a little while before heading into town. People were everywhere. Shopping, going to the movies, or getting ice cream with friends. Luke and I used to get ice cream every Friday after school. I was really going to miss all the things we used to do, even the crazy ones.

Thinking about Luke made my heart hurt. I decided I had to get him off my mind. I headed towards the local bakery shop and stood in line. When it was my turn to order I bought a banana nut muffin and a small vanilla coffee. I then went back outside and sat at a table to wait for my food. While I waited I pulled out my book, Blood Promise, from my purse and began to read. It was part of my favorite series, The Vampire Academy. I must have read this series 3 times already.

After a few moments i was startled out of my fantasy by the waiter placing my food on the small table. I looked up to say thank you and froze. The first thing I noticed were his gorgeous blue eyes. Next was his dazzling smile. I probably looked like a moron just sitting there and staring at this poor boy. I averted my eyes and closed my book.

"Hey, my name is Alex."

"I'm Lexie" I replied awkwardly. "Um... Thank you for bringing me my food"

"Well it's kind of my job to do so."

"Of course it is. I knew that." Goodness I felt so stupid right now. He just flashed me a perfect smile.

"Are you new here? I don't think I've ever seen you around."

"Yea I just moved here."

"Oh. Where from?"

"Sydney, Australia."

"Wow that's nice. That would explain the faint accent you have."

"I've never even noticed that I had an accent."

"Well I like it."

I started to turn bright red. Curse my terrible blushing. Just then someone called his name and told him to get back to work.

"Well I guess I'll see you at school."

"Okay. See you there. Bye!" I just sat there thinking, could I be any more of a dork? I got up and slowly walked home. As I neared my house I saw my dad outside talking on the phone. I waited until he was finished to talk to him.

"Hey, kiddo!"

"Oh come on dad. I'm 15. I'm not a "kiddo" anymore."

"You may be older but you'll always be my little girl." I groaned and this made him laugh. He seemed to be in a very bright mood.

"So who was that on the phone?"

"Um, just some dinner guest that are going to be here in an hour...... So we better get inside and start cooking." He was doing that avoiding my eyes thing that he always does when he is hiding something. It was making me suspicious. However, I wasn't about to look like a terrible host so I went into the kitchen and started making my best dish. Chicken Parmigiana with pasta. I was a true Italian!

About 30 minutes later the door bell rang. I could hear a woman's voice as my dad opened the door. Oh great this should be fun!
