Jade

I opened my eyes a little and spotted the bag on my bed. It was the bag Mrs Fejiro had given to me yesterday, at church. I wanted to check it out last night but I was carried away by a video call I was having with my grandma. Sure you are wondering what I would be talking about with grandma. She was not really old. Remember, my mum was only sixteen when she had me so my grandmum was also young then. My grandmum was forty when my mum had me. Now she was fifty six.

I slowly got up from my bed and dragged the bag closer to me. I checked out what was inside. It had an annointing oil, a new Bible, spiral bound jotter, Teen Manual, handband and HOUSE ON THE ROCK necklace. I sighed and rolled my eyes. That was totally useless, I had nothing to do with it. I put the bag behind my wardrobe and started off towards the kitchen. I was still in my fluffy pink shorts and black tanktop, pink burberry headband, and my slippers.
It was still early so I could get why the maids were not up and plus the weather was cold.

I fried egg into a bread and made tea for myself before carrying it upstairs. Last thing I wanted to do was have breakfast with everyone. It did not satisfy me, and most of the time I forced myself to eat my food because I just always lost appetite.

I locked my door and dropped my breakfast on my bed and laid there, eating and drinking slowly. I just wished I was out of secondary school already. But thankfully, I was going to round up the next year.

I picked up my pink pouched phone and checked the time. 6:15. Too early. I needed to get out of the house but I didn't know where to. I had no friends and my friend Marie was living in Kano. She was a boarder in my school. The thing was, my school was a boarding school but because I was asthmatic, they allowed me be a day student. It took time to convince the Principal. My mum had no choice because Grand Army College was a wonderful school but she did not like the idea that it was a boarding school. She always wanted her eyes on me and make sure I had good food. My asthmatic nature was not even serious, just something minor but Mum had to lie about it.
I was pretty sure my Principal doubted at first but let me be a day student. I think he only believed it because one day, I had an attack after sports. I had a block in my chest.
I wasn't the only one allowed as a day students, few others were. We were really few.

Soon I drifted back to sleep only to wake up and realize I had eaten my breakfast half way and the time was almost ten. Someone had been knocking on my door.

"Who's there?" I asked tiredly.

"Jade?"

It was Mum. I slowly dragged myself out of the bed and crawled to the door and unlocked it to see mum. I just sat there on the floor because I did not even have the strength to stand up.

"Hey," she said, walking into my room and shutting the door behind her. "Goodmorning to you Miss Jade."

"Sorry. Good morning Mum. Help me up."

She stretched her hand out for me and I took it to get up.
"Are you seriously being this lazy now?" she asked, picking up the tray from my bed. "And when did you make this?"

"This morning." I yawned.
"We need to head to the gym and you have to sign up for your ballet classes again. You're less busy during most weekends. You need to find yourself something to do," she suggested.

"Mum? I'm perfect at ballet, I don't have to sign up. And I don't feel like gyming today, I'm fit already."

"Who said? Look how fat you're getting." She raised my arm up. "Come down so we can head to the gym. Hurry." She made to leave the room. "And where is your church necklace?"

"In my drawer. I'll put in on soon, I promise," I said, only to make the case die down.

"Yeah. You really need it so no harm will come to you, you need that for protection. God will protect you."

I mentally rolled my eyes.

"Ok? Jade?"

I nod. "Sure." I faked a smile.
"Get ready for gyming," she reminded.
"No, I'm going out by eleven."

She gasped. "With a friend? I'm so happy for you, I've always wanted you to socialize more."
I had to be quiet since she had already concluded I made a new friend.

"That church has really amazing teens dear, hang out with them more often. I'm going gyming with Nessa, your step dad is out for an important meeting," she said. "Hope you have a nice day."

"Thanks mum." And she left. I shut the door and sighed. And I still couldn't believe Nessa and Mum would go gyming together. Well, maybe her dad forced her to.

Jeremih

I was at the cinema with Ezinne and she had come with Lydia. I was not expecting that at all. I really wanted to ask why but I thought it was not important. I still did anyways.
"Hey." Ezinne came up to me.
"Why did you bring her here? You didn't tell me," I told her.

"I'm sorry. I just wanted the both of you to talk," she said. "I booked a movie for you both in screen four. The name's Logan. I'm gonna be watching another boring movie with Andrew, it's about aliens."

"Lydia wouldn't want to talk to me, you can see she is on a phonecall with someone else. Probably calling someone that she would watch the movie with. Ezinne, she likes someone else. She doesn't like me anymore unless she wouldn't have broken up with me," I explained.

Ezinne rolled her eyes. "Chillax." She left and went over to Lydia.
Eudora tapped my shoulder from behind.

"Can you cash into my game card? Or does your game card still have some cash in it? I want to be busy until Kamara comes and some of my other friends from school," she said. I had brought her because she insisted and mum insisted too because she suspected I had other plans to go out from here..

I brought it out from my bumbag which I hung side ways and gave it to her. "Don't misplace it. Also, don't finish the card in it," I warned.

"Sure bro." She left. I watched her until her jacket was out of sight when she went downstairs.

Ezinne came back to me. "Logan is starting in ten minutes, go grab your popcorn and drink."

"Did she call someone else?" I asked.
"She wouldn't tell me and I can't guess. Lydia is really weird. Anyways, ciao. I'll be in screen one and you guys can head home because our movie won't take too long so we'd leave before you guys do." She smiled and left.

I wondered why the cinema was filled today.

"What drink do you want?" Lydia asked me. I guessed she was running out of patience.

"Bigi," I replied.
"Flavour, mister?" she asked again.
"Tropical," I answered. She walked off immediately.

I didn't get why she was paying for our snacks and drinks. Soon she was back.
"Your ticket. Can we go now? I want to get a seat at the VIP."
"Okay sure." We walked towards Screen Four.
