*Wood's P.O.V*

Matt just stood there, frozen, but his eyes were glued to the back of Brandon, and then Matt slowly started forward, following Brandon, whose hand was grazing over his holster. Before going into the dark building with Matt, Brandon quickly looked at me, his eyes like steel. He shook his head at me but didn't say anything. He knew that I wanted to follow him and Matt inside. I don't know how he knew, but he did.

Did my eyes deceive me? Did they give away that I didn't trust anything Brandon was going to say or do to Matt? My heart started pounding as my mind went through the worst scenarios. One of them was that Brandon was torturing Matt. Maybe Brandon and his people didn't really know what was happening. Maybe they were the bad guys, not the government. But how could I prove it? I couldn't. And besides, there were no screams echoing in the building.

But Brandon could have Matt in a basement somewhere, underground so low that no matter how loud he screamed, nobody could ever hear him.

My eyes started welling up with tears, and Tanner noticed. He put a hand on my shoulder, which got me out of my daze. I looked up at him with teary eyes.

"Whoa. You okay, Woods?" Tanner asked me with genuine concern in his eyes.

I nodded, but then looked down at my feet.

"I just-I don't trust Brandon. I mean, why'd he only take Matt? It doesn't make sense!" I shouted, and Tanner put a finger to his lips to silence me.

"Shhh!" Tanner whispered, and he walked me over to a place where nobody was. "I know, I know, Woods. I don't trust him either."

I put my hands on my head, touching my silky dark brown hair. My eyes widened in worry.

"I-I just keep on thinking of the worst scenarios. I mean, what if something happened to him? Matt I mean."

I started pacing nervously, my hands shaking so much that I had to sit down on the sandy ground. My hands rubbing my temples. Tanner sat down next to me, his arm over my shoulder.

"So, what do you want to do?"

I looked at Tanner and thought for a minute, my eyebrows creased in thought. It took a while, but in about five minutes (probably less), my eyes lit up.

"I have a plan, but promise me you won't freak out." I paused, looking at Tanner's face. He nodded. "Get the others.

Soon our plan was going to be put in motion.

About ten minutes fly by, and Tanner and the others were eyeing each other, nervous to start the plan. Heck, even I was nervous to start the plan, but somehow I knew nothing bad was going to happen.

Matt and Brandon still hadn't come back yet. That was both good and bad. Good for my plan, but bad because I kept thinking of the worst scenarios again. Tanner and the others tried to go into the building where Matt and Brandon went, but there were two guards by the entrance.

"Hey, let us in!" Tanner screamed, pushing the guard. The guard immediately got out his gun and pointed it at Tanner. Tanner yelped, immediately putting his hands above his head and backing off. He looked at me, and I nodded, getting the signal. I got up from off the ground and went over to the guards.

"Hey, why can't they go in?!" I shouted, shoving one of the bodyguards on the chest, slamming him against the concrete wall.

I could feel Tanner pulling my arm, begging me to just leave it alone, this wasn't in the plan, but I couldn't. Why was Matt allowed in but not us? Why was Brandon being so secretive?

I turned around, my hands clasping into fists. I screamed into the air, my face turning a deep red, then I ran back towards the guards and shoved him against the wall, which took his breath away. He staggered, gasping, then tried to punch me, but I dodged it and clocked him in the face.

I saw the other guard go for his gun and so I dug my nails into his face and proceeded to punch him repeatedly until he fell to the floor. I lay on top of him, pummeling his face until his face was red and swollen. His nose was bleeding and the other guard was on the floor, panting heavily. It seemed I had knocked the wind out of him. Good, I thought to myself.

Sweat soaked my face, threatening to run into my eyes. I quickly wiped away the sweat and realized that tears were falling down my face as well. I ran my fingers through my hair and then stood up, only to realize that ten guards had surrounded me, guns trained on me. My heart dropped to the floor. Why didn't they care about the others? I didn't know. This wasn't part of the plan. Their fingers were on the triggers, ready to kill me. I raised my hands above my head and closed my eyes, ready to face death, but it didn't come.

Instead I saw Brandon come out again, without Matt. He saw me at the same time I saw him and I saw rage in his eyes, but then he smiled, feigning kindness.

He chuckled when he saw what I had done to his two guards.

"Wow, you really did a number on them, didn't you, Woods?"

I could hear the anger in his voice. I don't know how Tanner or the others didn't hear it. It was as clear as day.

"Why couldn't we go with you and Matt, huh? What's the big secret here, Brandon?" I asked, hissing at him.

But he motioned to his friends to create a hole for him in the circle of guns. I saw his face and disgust ran through my face. He turned to his right and whispered just so I and the others could hear.

"Kill him."
