Holly's pov:

______

"Oh my God."
Luna Lovegood had just entered the great hall, draped in a rather strange gold dress. It was unsurprising attire for the girl who was known to stand out among a crowd, and she was certainly catching the attention of many tonight.

Sofia stood next to me, both of us clinging to the marble pillars behind us, Sofia blushing furiously as she smoothed out her powdery blue dress.
"How do I look?" She began furiously altering pieces of her blonde hair with her wand, casting furtive glances at the girl still standing by the doors.

Luna was, as always, rather oblivious. She was staring up at the ceiling, taking in the sight of the floating pumpkins and festive garlands. Having yet to notice her date across the room, the girl had busied herself conversing dreamily with Blaise Zabini.

The hairs on my arms rose, and my breath caught slightly in my throat. My body felt suddenly very much alive, although, it wasn't because of the sight of Blaise. Next to him, lounging against her own pillar, was Pansy Parkinson.

She looked absolutely stunning.

I would've never thought anything like that before the detentions, but now? It was all I could think about.

Laying on that rooftop, laying so close to her, I had to stop myself from reaching out and tracing the slope of her nose, or whisper my fingers along her delicate eyelashes. I couldn't tear my eyes from the way her hair fluttered every time a breeze swept by, and the way her chest would rise with every breath she took.

She was intoxicating to look at, and God did I fancy her.

It was something I had always known - that I liked girls - so it wasn't a surprise when I started crushing on her the first moment she showed any kindness. She was beautiful, so much so, that it became more of a question of who wouldn't like her, than who would.

That was, until she opened her mouth. She could be cruel, and she could be heartless. She was a bully, sometimes her words so full of hatred it was questionable whether she had any human decency within her. Not to mention the people she associated with.

Sure i'd thought she was pretty before, but that fact had always deterred me. Before she had disgusted me, now I just wanted to know, why?

I wanted to know everything about her. Why she was the way she was. Why she said the things she said. I wanted to know every secret and every lie. Why she spoke so feverishly about some and so cold about others. I wanted to know everything, every level and layer and surface and corner there was to her.
