"Blaise?"
"Yes."
"Blaise Zabini?"
"Yes."
"As in the Blaise that goes to this school-"
"Omg Millicent will you shut up!"

I couldn't blame her. She was shocked, and she was confused. And so was I.

"Look Milly I don't know why he asked me to the ball, okay? I'm just as in the dark as you are." I said with a sigh.
Millicent Bulstrode looked at me. She was sat cross legged among a mountain of velvet pillows on her bed. She held one tight to her chest like a stuffed animal and she seemed to be almost shaking, with the excitement of trying to process new gossip.

She burst out laughing "Are you daft Parkinson? Of course I know why he asked you! What I want to know is why you said yes!"
"Well i'd be immensely grateful if you could tell me why he asked, seeing as everyone apart from me seems to know." I huffed.

"You seriously don't know? You know you really are more stupid than you look, Blaise has been practically in love with you since first year!"
My laugh was cut short when I registered the deathly serious look on her face.

"No."
"Yes!"
"No."
"Yes!"
"No- Oh my God were not doing this again!"

She giggled. "You're making me wonder if you really are blind Pans. Don't you remember our first ever class with Snape? You were partnered up with Blaise? You spilled the potion everywhere? You and Blaise had matching green hair for three days?"

I shook my head, Merlin how much had I missed just because I was too stupid to pay attention? My best friend has been in love with me for the past six years and I hadn't even noticed.

"Oh Pansy!" She signed. "After that Snape refused to let you work together and partnered you with Draco, and I mean you know how that turned out. At least I hope you do anyway, I don't know if I can trust your useless memory anymore!"

I glared at her for a moment before she gasped suddenly "Hey I almost forgot what's that with you and Draco? What do he say this time, huh? Are you going with Blaise to make him jealous?" she giggled.

She leant forward on her hand, her eyes begging for more details. God I wish she would of just forgotten.
"We're done. Me and Draco I mean."
She dropped her pillow, her face full of shock. I watched as her brain worked, wondering how after six years something could be gone just like that. I was wondering the same thing.

She stood up suddenly, uncrossed her legs
and shoving various emerald pillows out of her way. Her gaze was soft as she walked towards me, and she had a sad, sweet smile on her delicate face. She plopped down onto the mattress next to me and took my cold hands in her warm ones.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Milly lived for drama but there was nothing malicious or prying behind her eyes, only kindness and warmth. She cared, and I mean she actually cared.

If she would of asked me this question last week, I would of surely broken down in tears, spilling every secret about shady societies and evil marks and dark wizards, but now? I had no more tears left to give.

"Not really Milly." I whispered, staring at our intertwined hands, my eyes unable to meet hers.
"That's okay, Pansy." She leant her head against my shoulder and relaxed onto my bed. And we laid like that, Millicent's silent words warming me, for a rather long time.
