Splash

Splash

Callie heard water splashing on a surface, she tried to hear harder and also some whispers but couldn’t make out the words. Her eyes were tightly shut and she didn’t even remember where she was. She tried to open her eyes and listen to what the whispers were about. Wake? Bitch? Up? What were they saying? Then suddenly more water splashes. Now lying on the couch in her living area, Callie realised that those water splashes where aimed on her face. She felt water touch against her skin and popped her eyes open.

There stood Tasha with a jug of water in her hand, ready to pour it all on her. Callie backed away and sat straighter on the couch. “What the hell is happening?” Callie shouted in horror hoping Tasha would stop whatever she was doing.

The whispering stopped and Tasha looked at her. “Oh, Oh my god, Thank god you woke up.” Tasha said and put the jug on the side table. “Oh we were so concerned, we thought you were never gonna wake up.”

“Never gonna wake up?” Callie looked at her with astonishment. “What happened to muh-” She couldn’t even complete her word ‘cause just then she saw the figure standing near Tasha, a girl wearing black dress with a wicked smile on her face. Everything rapidly came rushing back to her like a wild tide, her sister, her standing at the door and suddenly blacking out. All of it. She then felt a real ache in her forehead, even her brain couldn’t handle all this new information. She reached for the nearest pillow and hastily punched it to her forehead.

“Argh…” Callie groaned and squeezed the pillow harder.

Spencer looked back and forth from Tasha to Callie and said, “Is it because of me?”

Callie looked at her with the corner of her eyes. Of course bitch, she thought.

“I told you I shouldn’t be here.” Spencer continued and looked at Tasha with the most-fakest-innocent-face-that-said-nobody-loves-me Callie had ever seen. “I told you she don’t love me anymore. I should have left before she woke up.” Spencer added and broke down into sobs.

Tasha looked back and forth from Callie to Spencer, with a clueless expression. She then moved a step closer to Spencer to console her.

“No, no, darling. She don’t hate you.” She said and put her hand over Spencer’s shoulders. Even though she knew, her voice was barely audible over Spencer’s loud cries.

“Ah…um… you-you th-th-think sooo.” Spencer managed to say between her tears. Crocodile’s tear if you’d ask Callie.

“Oh, yeah. She does. Of course.” Tasha said and felt a little smile come across her face. Finally the things were coming under control. She looked at Callie in hope, to say something-anything to make this back to normal.

“Nope, she’s right. I hate her.” Callie barked at Tasha, still holding the pillow close to her head. She gave Spencer a disgusted look before looking back at the carpet. With that Spencer’s cries got more and more louder. “Aaaaaa….. I tooooold yooooou.” Spencer wailed. Seeing that, Tasha started pacing around the room trying to think of something to calm the situation down. She shot occasional angry looks at Callie time to time, trying to get her to say sorry or anything to stop Spencer from crying her eyes out.

“No, sweetie she is just joking.” She stopped and stood by Spencer holding her close. Spencer’s tears were all over Tasha’s ‘Hello Kitty’ t-shirt now. Her eyes were all red from crying and she was now sitting on the side table. “Callie, tell her you were just kidding.” Tasha said in a soft voice and hugged Spencer harder. But when she looked at Callie her expression changed back to the wild dog’s one. She popped her eyes out at Callie and mouthed – Say sorry now, with gritted teeth. Callie surrendered just then.
