Ferit PoV

Although it had been a tiring day , I was feeling relieved after talking to Pelin. A small burden had been lifted from my chest. Even though I had accepted our renewed friendship , there was something which didn't feel right about the whole episode. She was not the kind of person to let go of such an important news. Why after so many years she had come back to tell me about this abortion? This didn't make sense. I would need to dig deeper into this. I called Mrs. Iqbal and asked her to find more details about Pelin and her company and also about her medical history since the last 6 years. I was done for the day.  Nazli was upset for I couldn't make it to the interview and I decided to get back home sooner rather than later. I didn't want to disappoint her again.

Nazli was sitting on the couch , completely absorbed in watching television, when I came home. Seeing her I felt relieved and immediately went near her. I kissed and inhaled are neck. Every time I did that, I got lost in her scent. It felt like home. She relaxed immediately and I knew we were fine. I suggested to watch a movie and let her choose one.

When I came back after changing, I saw Nazli still holding the DvDs and staring blankly at the floor. When I asked her , she just said that she had an headache and wanted to sleep. I didn't know what happened in a matter of few minutes. I tried to pull her towards me and asked her again cupping her face gently and looking into her eyes. Her eyes were moist and there was disappointment in them. After a while she just said that she was tired and went upstairs leaving me behind confused and flabbergasted. I had no idea what happened suddenly.  I took the DvDs back to where they belonged and got some painkillers and a glass of water for Nazli. I entered the room and called her softly . When she didn't respond , I left the glass and the medicine on the side table and got inside the covers. I scooted near her and whispered softly that I loved her. Her face was lighted by the soft lights of the moon. She looked so beautiful when asleep. I could look at her for hours. Eventually, I moved towards my side of the bed so as not to disturb her further. Whatever it was, we would solve it the next day. I made up my mind to tell Nazli everything from my past , she had the right to know and with that decision slowly sleep engulfed me.

I woke up in the morning with a chill. The bed felt rather cold. Then I realized that Nazli was not there by my side. I got up with a jolt. I quickly made my way downstairs and called her name. Only my own voice echoed. I immediately called her but the phone remained unanswered. I felt a sudden chill in my spine. I called her again but got only the shrill  sound of the rings as response. Then my eyes fell on the sticky notes on the top shelves of the kitchen. I went near and pulled the notes one by one. It read " I am hurt". " I am angry". "I need time". " I need to go".

Having decided to take some lone time, I went to the restaurant early and informed Manami and Fatosh that I will be away today and tomorrow. I left notes for Ferit in the Kitchen just like  before. I am not sure how he was going to react. I just needed to be away from him for a bit to think things through. After explaining to Fatosh that I needed a break, I was on my way to Izmir. I had been to this Olive garden some time back and it had been really peaceful and I wanted some peace right now and that was the place which popped into my head the moment I thought about going away. I didn't give much details to Fatosh also about my whereabouts . I was on the bus , when Ferit called me . I was in no mood to talk to him. He called me again but I let it ring.

My fellow passenger was a lady , close to my mothers age . She was of inquisitive nature and started a conversation when she noticed me silencing the calls. She was quite a chatterbox and began sharing her love story. I was not really in the mood for any conversation but just couldn't ignore her. Anyway, my journey wasn't that gloomy thanks to her constant chatter. By the time I reached , it was already evening . I messaged Fatosh that I had reached safely and was about to message Ferit also out of habit, but I stopped myself. I checked in to a hotel nearby and just laid down, thinking about all that has happened to me over these couple of months. I felt lonely and empty inside . 'Did I do the right thing by going away?' I wondered but it was already late for that now.

I was standing clueless in the middle of the kitchen with the little notes in my hand. What does this supposed to mean I wondered. She was not even answering my calls. I was about to write a message when I noticed a message from Pelin. I opened and read  it and suddenly it struck me that  Nazli looked quite unwell after I left her to choose the movies. I had the feeling that she might have seen this and thought something happened between Pelin and me. But what I didn't  understand was why she didn't confront me. Did she know something more? I couldn't let her be upset over my past. I had to talk to her.

I got dressed quickly and went directly to office. On my way I called Fatosh to ask if Nazli was there at the restaurant.  "She was here in the morning , but left early". Fatosh informed. " Ferit , she looked quite upset . I just know , she is outside of Istanbul. " She continued. " Did she give any hint as to where she would go?" I probed her further. After a pause Fatosh said " Now that I think, she did mention something about Olive trees". I thanked her and ended the call and asked her to inform me in case she heard back from Nazli.

After reaching office I called Mrs. Iqbal and asked her to trace Nazli and gave her the information I received from Fatosh. I met Engin and told him about the situation.

" I know I have not been entirely truthful to Nazli. I just needed time to come clean. I am waiting for some news on the background checks I have asked for Pelin and her company. I would have told Nazli everything. why did she run away like that." I told him frustrated with the entire situation.

"Look Ferit, try to see from her perspective. If we assume that she saw the message and misunderstood, you cannot blame her entirely. She must be feeling confused and wanted to get away. After all , you guys married quite fast." He said . Engin always played the devil's advocate and forced me to think the other way too. He is my best friend and I depended on his counsel from time to time.  I just had to wait till I get any news from Mrs. Iqbal.

I tried to get some work done while I waited. I was in my office room , when Mrs. Iqbal called in. She has been able to trace Nazli. She had gone to this place called Izmir and it was the Olive harvesting season there. I immediately asked her to cancel all my meetings for the day and I also the next day as I would be out . I also informed Engin and quickly went back home to change and I decided to drive my way to Izmir. With renewed determination, I took my SUV out of the garage and thought to myself that where ever she was I would find her and get her back. No way I could tolerate any distance between us. It was a long road ahead , but I was ready to get my love back.
