I slipped through the trees silently treading carefully as to not disturb fallen twigs or leaves. I looked around pushing the hood of my cloak back to rest on my shoulders, I turned my head to the left and right as to make sure no one was watching me or following me. I used my foot to push leaves and brush aside my knee high boots getting slightly muddy from the wet leaves. I made a face of disgust but the look faded, I nodded in remembrance to things much worse that had splashed across the black faux-leather. I crouched down using the moon light to find the metallic glint of a trap door handle, I grabbed it and swiftly pulled open the hatch. With a final look around i jumped into the dimly lit hole, i hadn't been here in what felt like years when it had only been three or so months.
I plunged a hand into the satchel that hung limply at my side, pushing away coins and trinkets. Finally I felt what I was looking for to brush past my hand, pulling out the small box of matches. I opened it and swiftly struck one of the red tipped sticks against the side of its box. I reached for the metal lantern that resided on a hook on the cold stonewall of the entrance. After lighting and adjusting the flame I swiftly made my way through the short corridor, eventually making my way into what I called the living room. The living room and kitchen were merely separated by a small couch that I slept on, shelves and nooks decorated the cozy space of the first room. The kitchen had cool wood floors that definitely helped to wake me up on the cold dreary mornings that I had grown accustomed to, the rest of the house was carpeted with a nice cozy brown color of shag carpeting.
I unzipped and slipped off my boots setting them next to the entrance to the corridor, as i was about to take off my belt- said belt was attached to the sheath of a long sword that had won me many fights and battles- i heard a soft thump from the room i kept my supplies in. I slid the belt off of my hips but took the sword from it's holding place.
