Chapter 5

Hi, my name is Kazuma, and I am a 17-year-old NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). My life was pretty depressing and uneventful until a truck hit me. More specifically, a tractor, then I got reincarnated to a different world. I'm going to go on a limb here and say this life has much more potential than my other life. My party has two super cute girls; one is the water goddess, Aqua. The other is the explosion lover, Megumin.

Megumin had one time told me she was part of the Crimson Demon clan or something. Honestly, I have not a clue. But I know one thing for sure, and that is Megumin is powerful. Her signature spell, Explosion, could instantly annihilate everything within a 1km distance. By everyone, I mean except for Aqua and me. Which we survive not once, but twice, standing only a couple of feet away from her. Using that, we defeated the demon king after two tries. Oh yeah, I think I forgot to mention this, but I can return by death. Okay, now I know you meant to be thinking, oh, this is overpowered or something, but judging it from experiences is not fun. In both my two attempts, I die a gruesome death. Hopefully, I don't run into headless knight anymore.

Huh?

"Look how many cabbages I got, Kazuma. This is at least worth a fortune. I'm rich!"

Oh yeah, the cabbage event. Aqua was thrilled that was caught a handful of cabbages. Even though the rest of us caught two times more than Aqua. She only caught about 5 cabbages, and Megumin caught 10. Finally, of course, I caught the most because my luck is off the chart... 13 cabbages!

Also, we were promised money for each cabbage we catch, that's why Aqua is so happy today. I actually thought Aqua would trip over something and lose all her cabbages. Oh crap, I shouldn't jinx it.

"Ha! Of course me, the great spell caster had obtained 10 cabbages!"

The red cape girl, Megumin, smug at me for the first time today.

"Yeah, yeah. Okay, hurry up."

I pushed the two enthusiasts all the way to the tavern, getting our money then resting on a table, preparing for dinner.

Aqua was the first to stretch.

"Ughh, that was tiring..."

Yeah, of course. For me...

"How many cabbages you caught, Kazuma?"

"Uhh..."

Before I can finish my sentence, Megumin interrupted me.

"He got 5 as well and I got 10."

What!

"Hmm, good job, Kazuma. Never thought you would be on par with me..."

Sigh, this girl...

Aqua then proceed to mumble to herself.

"...seems like I underestimated you."

I glanced at Megumin, who gave me a grin as if saying, I saved your ass, now pay up with your cabbages.

I shot her a look saying I will pay you back with gratitude.

Smug.

Did she actually get my message?

After waiting for our meal, Aqua delightful cheered.

"Thanks for the meal!" We all said in unison.

"Hey, Kazuma."

"Yeah, that's my name."
