One Year Later
Jay's POV
"Straighten your backs! The 104th trainee camp begins right now! My name is Commander Keith Shadis, and you will grow to despise me! Training will be like going to hell! And when I'm done with you all, you will have nightmares about this place! Right now, you are just nothing but life stock! Titan food! Within the next three years, you will be learning the techniques to survive! Remember this moment in your lives when you come face to face, because you'll ask yourself if yourself if yo are a fighter or become bait! Are you gonna be the one who bites or not?!", Commander Keith announced.
I was lined up with many other cadets who enrolled into the 104th trainee camp. Ever since I found out about the news on my father, I've more determined than ever.
Flashback to Last Year
We arrived at Wall Rose with many of the other survivors. But the time there wasn't the best, either. There was little to no food to eat and the Garrison was no help either.
"Eren! Mikasa! Jay!", I heard Armin yell out.
The three of us turned to him and saw that he was carrying four loaves of bread.
"My grandpa had told them that he had kids to look after", he said as he handed us each of loaf.
"Thanks, Armin", I said with a small smile.
"It would've been better for the Titans to eat more of them. Then they wouldn't eat up most of our food", a Garrison officer called out as he and another officer looked at us.
How could someone wish that on others??
It wasn't long until Eren ran up to the officer and kicked him in the shin.
"You brat!", the officer yelled out and went to punch him.
I ran and pushed Eren out of the way, taking the punch instead.
"Jay!", Eren yelled.
I held the cheek that the officer punched, knowing that it'll probably leave a bruise, and looked up at that officer.
"Are you happy with yourself?", I asked him, "Hitting kids will solve the world's problems? Well, you're a pathetic excuse of a soldier."
"What did you say, you little--", the officer was about to say before the officer beside him stopped him.
"Wait! You just hit the Kimiko's daughter! Look at her right eye", the second officer said.
The first officer looked at me before the scowl on his face faded and laced with fear.
I was hearing the voices in the crowd of people:
"Did he just say 'Kimiko'?"
"That family line has been the talk for generations."
"The section commander and the captain combined has killed more than Captain Levi."
"He just hit her? Shameful!"
"That poor girl."
"I-I'm sorry. If I had known, I wouldn't--"
"Let me stop you right there", I interrupted the officer, "You were just insulting me and my friend a few seconds ago. And now that you know find out about my family, you wanna apologize? Sorry pal, but that doesn't work on me. So the next time you want to hit somebody smaller than you, you better think about your actions."
