(5) The Con

Three months later 

It was Bucky's 28th birthday he was at the brownstone  alone. The boys were starting to job search since neither one of them was budging. Adrianna figured out through Winnie where Bucky lived and drove over there. She knocked on the door as Bucky was walking through the house drinking a beer shirtless with sleep pants on. 

He answered the door. "Hello. Did you come to see the dead man?" He said 

"We need to talk." She said as she pushed him back into the foyer of his brownstone. 

"Don't be abusive." He said 

"Look I hate you and you hate me. But we are in a pickle don't you think? Now I don't know where this is all coming from. But I'm not about to lose what I've worked so hard for because of some stupid bullshit." She said 

"Well I can agree with you on that much." He said as he walked away and drank his beer. 

"So I was thinking..what if there was way we could give them what they want..and we can get what we want." She said 

"What are you proposing Dria?" He said 

"What if we go through with everything but we have more of a open marriage kinda thing. Like we can get married..but we can go screw who ever we want. If you want to keep seeing Peyton that's fine. I don't care what you do honestly..and we don't share a bed. Quite frankly we don't have to act like a couple unless the situation requires it." She said 

"Like galas balls dinner parties?" He said 

"Yes exactly." She said 

"Do you really think we can pull one over on them? Like they won't see what we are doing?" He said 

"We aren't living with them James. Of course this is going to work and once we are in and home free like stay married two years then we can split up. We definitely need to get a prenuptial agreement..but think about it James. Everybody will be happy.." she said 

"Okay. Well I'll go get dressed then." He said 

"Why?" She said 

"Because we have to go buy you a stupid ring." He said as he went up the stairs. 

They went to Tiffany's where he brought her a canary diamond engagement ring in a pear shape. After they went by there she and Bucky snuck the top of the Barnes and Co business building. 

"Blah blah blah blah..will marry me?" He said 

"Yes." She said as he slid the ring on her finger. 

"We don't have much of a choice.." he whispered 

"Yeah.." she said 

They left and headed to see their folks to announce the big news. All of them were elated to see that they finally came around. Their friends however had doubts that they wouldn't be able to pull it off. That weekend Steve seen Natasha a coffee shop. 

"Hey Nat.." he said 

"Steve.." she said 

"We need to talk. Do you think we could grab lunch sometime?" Steve said 

She looked down then began to write on her napkin. "Sure.." she said and left the booth. 

"Call me!" Was written on the napkin along with her phone number.
