Prompt: An AU where Guinevere is a fanfic writer struggling with writer's block. Her predicament is so bad, that it affects her Arena matches! Luckily, her teammate Granger notices, but what will he do to help her?
Fluff~
"Defeat~" Guinevere sighed as the hologram flashed before her eyes. With a flick of her hand, she waved it away to see the round stats only to be met with even more disappointment.
More holograms appeared, showing her and her teammates' stats. The kills, assists, and deaths were shown as well as the items that they used for passives and other useful things for the battle. Guinevere flicked that same hand once more, skipping various user interfaces and pop-outs until everything disappeared, automatically teleporting her to the lobbies of the arena.
Opening her eyes, she was greeted with a plain white tiled room filled with her teammates with a floor to ceiling window lined with a gold-coloured metal. That window curved outwards, showing the vast two-sided arena below from a side-view, their room being one of the many on the blue side. If you were to look at the Arena from the Minimap, their 'room' --that was supposedly reserved for the heroes or VIPs-- would be on the bottom lane, above the closest turret to the base. Of course, if Guinevere looked down even further, she could see the crowds spectators cheering for their side. The arena was like one big stadium after-all.
The interior of their lounge had a sleek white modern sofa made of leather with a matching ottoman being the few pieces of furniture. The sofa faced the wide window, and behind it was a foosball table that was currently occupied by Nana and Akai. Further down the room was a lit up minibar, sky blue neon lights lining the edges of the table and the white modern cabinets. Karina was currently seated at one of the stools, drinking what looked to be sparkling water while sharpening her swords.
'Solo Queue Sunday' was the current event happening in the Arena today, leading to random teams that were hopefully balanced. Luckily for Guinevere, her team consisted of a Fighter/Mage --herself--, a tank, a support/mage, and an assassin. The ginger however, was not enjoying this at all. If Odette hadn't suggested a few rounds in the Arena with the other Heroes, Guinevere would be back in the castle writing fanfiction about her favourite ship in the Arena; or at least, she thought she would. Her 'writer's block' has been affecting her current upload schedule, making the girl crest-fallen and sluggish. Now it was affecting her Arena matches, much to the dismay of her teammates.
She plopped down on the couch face forward with her eyes closed, but instead of being met with the familiar plush surface, she was face to face with a rough black material, spikes almost hitting her forehead. Guinevere slowly opened her eyes and looked up to see the cold stare of her teammate. Oh... right. There was also a marksman.
Their limbs were in a current tangle but their position was out of view from their other teammates. Guinevere's arms were stretched out on both sides of his head that was currently propped up on one of the couch's pillows. Her legs were split apart, her right one between his legs and the other slightly sliding off the couch. His arm position made matters worse though; they were crossed together, and in this predicament, were dangerously close to her... breasts.
Granger swallowed hard while frowning, seeming to read her mind. Guinevere swore she saw him blush.
In an instant, they both broke free from their shock. Guinevere shot up, but unfortunately for her, the knee that was sliding off the couch finally fell off, leading her to fall back flat on a glaring Granger.
"Eep! I'm so sorry!" Guinevere profusely apologized, closing her eyes with furrowed brows while grimacing. She was for sure going to receive insulting glares and remarks now! For feeding, bad performance earlier in the match and now this. But to her defense, her writer's block was weakening her.
This is so embarrassing! Guinevere shook her head inwardly. "I just can't seem to think straight, my mind is so clouded over with so, so many thoughts, I- I can't concentrate. I'm sorry Granger," Guinevere spewed out as she felt him shift from under her, sliding her off and going into a sitting-leaning position.
"I'll do better next time! Promise!" She looked up at him with pleading eyes, expecting to see Granger's usual brooding and intimidating expression.
Instead the ginger was met with an expression of... understanding?
"We all have those days Guinevere," Granger said calmly with tired red eyes. "Just don't let it bring you down that much."
He wrapped his arms around her waist and fell back, the pair going back to their previous position but this time it was comfier. Guinevere rested on top of him, his hands moving up to the small of her back, engulfing her in a tight but warm hug. With rosy cheeks, she her hands rested on his chest on either side of her head, unsure how she should hug him back. The ginger's heart was beating madly, but little did she know, he was cursing himself on the inside because of how straightforward he was without explanation. No shame at all!
Despite their awkwardness, Guinevere's inner writer was bustling with new ideas-- All thanks to Granger's little stunt.
As Guinevere was brainstorming which ships she should write in this situation, Granger's deep voice cut through her thoughts.
"Do you feel better now?" He asked. Guinevere felt the small vibrations of his chest due to their proximity.
She could only manage a small nod as she felt her face heat up.
He didn't have to do this, but because he did, Guinevere's readers were soon gifted with new fanfiction and stories the following week.
