Guinevere's POV:

It was summer break as I sunk into a fluffy bean bag, most of my friends quit playing and rarely wanted to play with me yet I logged into Mobile Legends and was immediately greeted with the blasting orchestra music. While cursing myself for having the volume turned all the way on, I hurriedly pressed on my phone's sound buttons and one thing caught my eye at the right-hand side of my screen.

He was online.

Thump! My heart beat so hard, it felt like it sunk to my stomach. A yellow box was beside his avatar and username, indicating that he was already in a lobby and waiting for a match.

Suddenly, the yellow box became a green one with a plus sign. Why did he cancel the matchmaking?

A pop-up appeared on my screen. It showed that he was inviting me to a Custom Game lobby. Trying to calm my racing heart, I tapped to accept the invitation and joined his lobby. A million questions were circling in my head.

Why did he invite me?

What are we going to do?

Is he going to kill me?

Will I win?

Is this a 1v1? Or are there other people involved?

I checked the lobby to answer my question and there was only the two of us. He switched his team to the opposite of mine -- I was on the blue team -- and a message appeared on the chat.

"1v1?"

"Sure!" My lavender acrylic nails quickly typed back.

30 minutes later, it was the late game. I led my mini Guinevere to the top lane turret that was closest to his base to take it down. As I was pushing the last turret, I looked around using the mini-map to try to find where he is.

He was nowhere to be found, so I prepared myself for a gank. I checked the nearest bush and he wasn't there.

In a flash, his hero was coming towards me from his base. I used my second skill to thump onto his character, as I was about to tap my ultimate, a message appeared on the left of my screen.

"i'll let u win if u don't kill me"

I looked at his health bar and saw that it was nearly empty... One more hit and he'd be dead. It was a one in a million situation; I would be killing the guy who I know as one of the best at the game. I went out of the turret's range to avoid taking additional damage.

"let's make this quick!"  I replied to tease him.

"don't test me" He jested.

I let out a giggle as his character backed away and used his Recall spell to teleport back to his base. Although he was rarely online, I enjoyed his company and I wanted to keep being in good terms with him. The occasional '1v1' and 'carrying' with him also helped with my gameplay which polished my skills. I became a better player because of him.

I continued to push his turret and eventually it broke down, meaning I successfully destroyed it. Just as I was about to attack his base turret, another message was sent in the 'all' chat. I let my minions attack the base turret for me.

"i taught u well :)" Granger typed.

"thx :3"  I responded as I was madly blushing.

A pop-up appeared on my screen, it showed a glowing text that read 'VICTORY' in bold red letters. Golden wings appeared on the sides and soon the whole thing disappeared.

I tapped the screen to go back to the main lobby, and a message icon appeared on the bottom left side of my screen, under the prominent pop-up that read 'Custom' and beside the daily quests. I opened the message from Granger. It read:

"i'll be online more often now"

I squealed and typed back an "ok". Maybe this summer break won't be so lonely after all...
