TW: Eating Disorders

"Come on Kat, just one bite" Pansy held a sympathetic look on her face, gently rubbing my back as she tried to encourage me to eat some of the cereal that had been shoved in front of me. I stared at it, my stomach churned at the smell of it- let alone having to eat it. I took a deep breath and reached out to hold the spoon that was lying next to it. The cold metal stung my equally as cold fingers, but nevertheless I picked it up and moved it towards the bowl. I can do this. I let out a small sigh, which internally was the deepest sigh a human could ever conjure. I'm just not hungry. Trying my best to ignore my toxic thoughts, I scooped the now soggy cornflakes onto my spoon and raised it to my lips. Slowly but surely I put the spoon in my mouth and started chewing. Thinking that it was a good idea, I closed my eyes tight- but it just led to memories being revealing themselves.

"Katerina! Do you really think that the Malfoys will want you as a future daughter in law if you continue to be that fat?" My father looked at me with a look of disgust on his face, as if I wasn't his daughter but a random person on the street- not even a witch, but a muggle and believe me my father hates muggles. I shook my head no, a tear rolling down my cheek. He rolled his eyes, mimicking me by performing my cries- "boo hoo, stop crying Katerina. Just stop eating as much" And with that, he lit his cigar and strolled out of the room. I waited for the loud slam of the door behind him and that's when the tears truly came flooding. It was a similar conversation every time, and every time I would run to the mirror and inspect myself.

"Kat? Did you swallow it?" A voice snapped me back to reality, Pansy again, of course. I took an obnoxiously loud gulp and threw my spoon back into the bowl beneath me, accidentally splashing Goyle with milk in the process; he was too busy talking to a blonde fifth year girl to even acknowledge the events in which occurred. I gently pushed the bowl away from me and shook my head, muttering "I just can't do it" alongside it. Pansy huffed, but she didn't pry any further, she understood the difficulty of it.

Shaking all of my negative thoughts away, I thought of something that I could quickly change the subject with, almost immediately thinking of something- after all, distracting is what I do best. I painted a smile on my face "Who's excited for tonight then?" I burst out, gaining the attention of most of the Slytherins surrounding me. A chorus of 'woos' rang around me. Tonight we're having the first Slytherin gathering of the year; Us Slytherins are legendary for our parties. Of course they consist of a majority of Slytherins, but we do allow other houses to attend too- see, we're not completely heartless. Snape definitely knows about them but to be honest, I don't think he gives a shit- if he did they would have been stopped by now. Plus, it's not like they're that dangerous or anything, no ones died, yet.

It'll be nice to let go and have fun for one last time before we have to start focussing on our task tomorrow. Well, I'm guessing that it'll start tomorrow: we're meeting Narcissa, Draco's mother in Diagon Alley and then we will be going to Borgin and Burkes for an "important meeting", she didn't say anything else other than that apparently but I'm sure I'll find everything out tomorrow. I don't want to know anymore until tomorrow to be honest, it'll only raise my anxieties further.

Everyone started to gush about the evening ahead: what outfits they will be wearing, what games we're going to be playing, what drinks everyone's going to bring, what music we're going to play. It's nice to see everyone get excited, it makes me want to live vicariously through them. Pansy and I watched the second years get overly excited, amused at their innocence.

"Ugh do we have to go" Draco slammed his bag onto the table before throwing himself next to me, which in turn threw Pansy who was previously the one sitting there. I put my hand on his thigh, you didn't even have to know him to see how stressed out he looked, I know it's hard to believe but he doesn't tend to just go around chucking people out of their seats. Pansy regained her balance and sat up, rubbing her side which has collided with the wooden table in front of us in the process of her little tumble "What the fuck Malfoy, it's breakfast time why the fuck are you in such a bad mood" She grumbled, summoning the freshly brewed coffee pot to pour herself another cup before class. Draco's head whipped towards her as she said it and his eyes squinted into a glare, as if she had said something horrific "Well, Parkinson, I would be in a terrific mood if it wasn't for you" his words got quieter the more he spoke. As he finished his sentence, Blaise slid into the space next to Goyle opposite us "What did Pansy do?" He asked, I swear this kid just appears randomly. Pansy looked confused for a moment before a look of realisation appeared across her face, she then proceeded to burst out laughing "wait hahahahahaha" She took a breath and then continued "You're actually pissed off at me for walking into my own dorm this morning?" She clapped her hands together "Draco Lucius Malfoy, you have broken a lot of records for being overdramatic but this, this takes the cake" She breathed out through her laughs, I could see Draco's anger levels increasing rapidly but I was trying my absolute best to not burst out laughing with her. She finally finished her laughing fit and concluded the conversation by lowering her voice "I'm so so sorry for accidentally preventing you from getting some pussy, is that what you wanted?" Draco glared at her once again and looked down at his toast that was no doubt cold at this point.
