THIRTEEN- AN INTERESTING TRIP

"I think it's quite apparent that we will not be learning potions today" Snape spoke, in his usual slow paced tone while fiddling around with something in his cupboard "You will be travelling to Malfoy Manor by Floo powder, I am assuming that you are both familiar with it" I rolled my eyes- obviously, what 18 year old doesn't know how to use Floo powder? I heard a crash, closely followed by the sound of Snape's shoes colliding with the metal of the ladder that he previously stood at the top of, but was now climbing back down it. His eyes locked with mine as he reached the bottom. "Do not roll your eyes at me Miss Validus, just because you are now a death eater that does not give you the excuse to act like a spoilt brat" He spoke in a monotone voice. Firstly, how the bloody hell did he see me roll my eyes and secondly, how can he offend me like that in the calmest tone of voice possible? What a strange man.

Draco gave me a disapproving glare, I held my tongue and muttered a quick "sorry" with the  hopes of just getting on with my day. He tutted at me and went back into his cupboard, emerging quickly with the jar of Floo powder grasped tightly in his hand. He extended his arm towards us, indicating that we should take some.

"Mrs Malfoy is awaiting your arrival" He drawled. We both nodded at his words and proceeded to take a handful each, I looked over at Draco "you go first, she'll be wanting to see you" I told him, motioning my head towards the fireplace in front of us. He nodded in agreement and we both made our way to it together, feeling the growing heat of the fire as we approached. Draco threw the powder into the flames, causing them to turn green and then clearly stated "Malfoy Manor"  and with that, he disappeared.

I waited for the emerald flames to return to their correct colour of burning orange and followed suit, but before I could throw the powder Snape grabbed my wrist lightly- he has a habit of doing that recently, thinking that he can grab me. I whipped my head round at him and looked at him expectedly "Katerina, try not to annoy anyone. Not everyone is as forgiving as us" He stated, I flashed him a sarcastic smile and yanked my wrist free. "Thanks for the advice professor" I spoke, clearly not genuinely caring to take in his comment. Desperate to get away from the greasy haired man, I threw my Floo powder in the flames, repeating the process in which Draco had moments before.

With the flash of light, the room around me swirled and twirled, morphing as I blinked. I could have cried of happiness when my eyes fluttered open to the open space around me- I haven't been here since that night and I've missed it greatly. The gigantic walls, the cold stone floors which were covered with an enormous carpet draped over it. The carpet never used to occupy the floor, I remember when I was younger I would curse myself every time I went down here barefoot, the floor would be so bitterly cold that it would feel as though my toes were being pinched, even in the summer.

Looking up at the wall in front of me I saw the same pale-faced portraits that have been hung up there for as long as I could remember. It looks so empty now and it just feels so vacant. It makes me feel awful for Narcissa who has been here on her own- I'd be lying if I said that I'd even thought about Lucius being sent to Azkaban and I'd be lying if I said I felt bad for him however bad that may sound. But the thought of Narcissa being here all alone makes my heart hurt, greatly.

Stepping out of the fire place, my eyes flickered to my right and the door to the drawing room at the end of the hall appeared into my vision, it was cracked open ever so slightly and muffled voices were echoing through it. I made the short little journey towards it and assured that I smoothed out my clothes before knocking and entering, I need to stop just walking in before someone tells me that I can enter.

Walking in I saw Narcissa standing in front of Draco, both of her hands were held together on the side of her face as she admired him. He rolled his eyes at her, embarrassed by his mothers actions even though there wasn't another soul in sight- other than me of course. A slight tint of pink appeared on his chiselled cheeks when he noticed that I had now entered. I coughed quietly "sorry to interrupt" I muttered "do you want me to give you a minute?" I suggested, already turning my body around, feeling guilty suddenly that I had interrupted the adorable mother and son moment. Narcissa looked over, her eyes softening when she saw me
