Love Me Like You Used To by You Me At Six

Music blared out of the club, audible even before we approached the doors. Pulling self-consciously on the short dress Tia had lent me, I hurried behind her up to the beefy bouncer at the door. I had buried my previous anger down deeper inside me, trying not to let it escape, not yet.

The velvet ropes baring entrance to the club were suddenly moved from in front of us, allowing us to enter. A sideways glance at Tia showed her pulling her dress back up from where she'd evidently yanked it down to get us in through pure cleavage. It was hardly surprising; we'd used her trick thousands of times before to get into clubs far beyond our age limit. She said the only reason she even tolerate her generous chest size was free entrance and drinks at clubs. Boys of course, were an added bonus. Without turning, she reached behind and grabbed my hand in hers, tugging me along through the crowds of shimmering, dancing teens. This routine was familiar to me, mine and Tia'd friendship was older than our lives themselves. Our mums had been friends in a pre-natal class before our births; our relationship was pre-planned, destined to be. 17 years of friendship, I would be stupid to throw that away over one mistake on her part. It still mattered to me, she shouldn't have told Conner, but it could wait. It wasn't worth it, we were worth more than that.

Strobe lighting shone down from the ceiling, glittering throughout the room. Or maybe that was due to the sparkling dust settling on the writhing bodies; it wasn't called Glitz Clubbing for nothing I suppose. Passing through the throngs of people already on the dance floor, despite the fact it was only 7:30 at night, I glanced round at the surroundings. A bar lined one side of the club, evidently where Tia, and apparently I, was headed. Multi-coloured tiles lined the floor, creating the disco mood, along with a DJ booth resting at the head of the floor. Cloakrooms and bathrooms lined the other side, not that they were of particular interest right now. Of all the clubs that Tia and I had illegally been in, this was defiantly the classiest. On the opposite side from the bar, a large sign hung, declaring the birthday of someone named Axel; so that's whose party it must be. I wasn't to bothered by whose party we were casually gatecrashing, however it was good to know the name of the host, in-case someone asked.

Another swift pull on my arm alerted me to the direction of Tia's hurried objective; the bar, just as I had thought. I rushed forward to keep up with her power-marching, and stopped dead as I saw who slouched against the bar counter. Conner. Why was he here?! Dread raced through my bones, weighing down my movement. Tia turned to see why I wasn't following her, rolling her eyes as soon as she saw me frozen to the spot.

"He's not going to do anything I promise. He's on his best behavior, trust me." Tia sighed exasperatedly at me, obviously trying to get me to follow her again.

"Wait, you knew he was coming?" Anger surged through me again as I realized the implications of this. Tia knew everything that had happened; she was the one that caused it, after all.

"Of course I knew. I invited him." Tia stated, as if it was the simplest thing in the world.

"You what?!" I practically screamed over the pounding music.

"Oh lighten up Taylor, you're never any fun anymore! No wonder Conner ditched you for someone better!" Shock rushed through me at her words, how could Tia, my best friend for literally my entire life, say that?

"Wh..what? Why would you even say that? You're the reason he broke up with me! It was your fault!" My voice reached nearly a screech as I tried to convincingly assert my frustration through the head-splitting noise.

"Give up the act Tay. He broke up with you because you're never any fun. You never go out, you're always inside and you never even slept with him, even after a year! You're a prude Taylor McKessie, and he needed someone better." Something clicked inside me with that, the reason she was so defensive over the breakup, why she wasn't surprised at Conner's presence both at her house and now, as well as how she seemingly knew every little detail about my lack of relationship. Of course. It all made sense.

"It was you, wasn't it? It wasn't Alexia, it was you." My accusation came out cold, lifeless, as if I'd accepted it, but couldn't quite process the acceptance.

"Yes, it was me." Blushing initially at having been caught out, Tia looked to the ground. However she quickly tipped her head back up and glared at me, her abnormally cold stare directed straight at me. "Well, what did you expect really? I'm fun, and I'll put out. I'm the opposite of you, I'm better. You're nothing, and you will never find anyone until you loosen up a bit."  With that, she turned on the heel of her sky-high stiletto and stalked off towards the bar, draping herself over Conner where he stood.

The sight of this was just too much fro my brain the comprehend, so instead of even trying to, it just shut down. The corners of my vision blackening, I felt myself drop limply towards the spinning floor, before I didn't feel anything at all.
