*MICHAEL'S POV*

Dark wood stared back at me as I stood there motionless on Tia's front step, the door having been closed behind them. The last image replayed in my eyes; Tia dragging Taylor inside, Taylor's anxious expression back on her face, her last gasp of surprise as she stepped inside the house. I was dying to burst in there after her, just to make sure she was safe, but instead I turned back to the car waiting on the curb, scared of this protective instinct that had suddenly popped up within me. In all honesty, I didn't understand my feelings, and I'm sure that Taylor didn't either. It's not that she was unattractive, of course not, she was beautiful to me, I just didn't understand where they were coming from. I had only known about her for less than a week, but she had unexpectedly become a irreplaceable part of my world. I wish I knew how this has happened... But somehow it had, not that even mattered, it could never happen; she's too fragile and even if she wasn't, she'd never like me anyway.

Sighing, I pulled away from the curb, taking reassurance in the fact that Taylor was safe inside Tia's house in the comfort of her friend, away from her dad and that awful ex boyfriend of hers, Conner.

*TAYLOR'S POV*

"Conner? What are you doing here?" Voice cracking, I stood, frozen in Tia's hallway, gaping at the boy I hadn't spoken to since that day everything went so wrong, but so right at the same time.

"Taylor? Never mind what I'm doing here, what are you doing here?" For some reason, Conner advoided my questions with an art I'd grown used to over the time we'd been together; he was hiding something.

Too tired to question it now, I turned to Tia.

"Can I crash please?" Me and Tia had been friends for long enough that she knew when not to ask for explanations, she reead my face well enough to know that I just needed to get away from Conner and the past he brought with him.

"Sure, I'll see you upstairs." She shot me a small smile as I headed up the stairs, turning away from where they stood at the foot of the stairs, watching me go.

Blood boiled under my skin as I entered Tia's room. Everything was as it had been last time I'd seen it, her white wooden bed in the centre of her brightly coloured room, paint splashes all over the walls from the time she'd decided she wanted to paint her bedroom multi-coloured and we'd spent hours throwing paint at the walls in an attempt to make it look indie, needless to say we'd failed miserably and it just resembled a colour riot. The thing that annoyed me was in fact the splashings of me all over the room. My stuff was strewn in various places on the floor and photos of us together papered the walls. She obviously didn't care about me, like everyone else, ifshe would go and tell my biggest secret to the one person I least wanted to know, of which she was well aware, so why did she even pretend she was entitled to hold my trust?

Tia's head popped round the door in the middle of my internal rant, suprising me with the words she uttered.

"Hey, wanna go to a party?"
