TW: mentions of drugs
The day continued on just like nothing happened. Richie got a few weird looks from some of the popular kids but just ignored them. He stopped at his locker looking both ways for Henry and his goons. They were no where to be seen probably smoking pot behind the school dumpster. He took out his math textbook and put it in his bag, closed the door on the locker slamming his hand up against the locker door to get it to close all the way and then sliding the lock back on it and closing it. He turned his body away from his locker to see Eddie standing right beside him causing him to jump back and almost fall on his ass but Eddie caught him by grabbing his four arm and gripping onto it pulling him up.
"Sorry for scaring you like that rich I should have something." Eddie said scratching the back of his neck and laughing nervously.
"It's ok I just didn't expect anyone to be standing there, I'm skittish." Richie said now smiling realizing that Eddie was there.
"Well I was going to ask you if you wanted to ride with me to go to the diner today with my friends."
"Uh yea, yes I would love too Eddie spaghetti!"
"What the hell did I say about calling me that." Eddie said as he turned on his heel towards the exit that he was now walking towards.
"What's your problem with my nicknames good sir? Richie said ,once again, in a terrible English accent.
"Okay, great question Richard-" Eddie cut off by Richies hand slapping over his mouth to shut him up.
"Nope don't you ever call me Richard, I fucking hate that name."
Richie felt Eddie's lips parting as a loud chuckle came out of his mouth. It brought Eddie joy that he finally got on Richies nerves. He took Richies hand and shoved it away from his own.
"Ew don't put your hand over my mouth I have no clue where they have been." Eddie said in a disgusted tone scrunching his nose and furrowing his brows.
"Your mom does after we fu-"
"Beep beep Richie!" Eddie interrupted as he opened the car door and sat down in the drivers seat.
"What the hell does "beep beep" mean?"Richie said as he stopped at the car door.
"It means you need to shut up and you have went to far now get the car."
Richie shrugged and then took the door handle into his hand struggling to open the car tugging on it hard.
"Oh sorry this door gets jammed all the time most of the time you have to open it from the inside."
Eddie stretched himself across the car leaning on top of the console and opened the door. He released the breath he was holding and grunted.
"There ya go"
"Thanks Ed's"
Richie sat down in the small car; it fit Eddie just right but Richie had to fold like a suitcase to get in. He slouched down into his seat and took a pair of sunglasses that were sitting on the dashboard and so did Eddie.
"Buckle up bitch" Eddie said smiling.
They looked at each other both wearing glasses and bursted out laughing barely being able to catch their breaths. Eddie put his car in drive and drove out of the school parking lot now heading towards the diner to meet Eddie's friends. Richie was nervous like extremely nervous. He didn't like the thought of meeting new people especially a lot at once. All eyes were going to be on him. What if they hate me. What if they don't like the way I look. I bet they heard the rumors going around me, oh they definitely did. What if they laugh right in my face when I get there. Oh Jesus what if they saw what happened in the lunchroom today then I'm definitely dead. They are all going to give me that judgmental look all of their eyes on me. All eyes on me. Richie kept repeating that in his head now bitting his lip until he could taste blood and he was starting to bounce his leg. Richie never would notice that he would do these things when he would get anxious but Eddie did so he decided to say something comforting.
"Hey it's ok my friends they are super chill and cool they won't judge you or anything they are all a bunch of losers themselves that's why we are called the losers club."
It was kind of scary but it's like Eddie just read his mind.
"Thanks I just get nervous when I meet new people."
Richie especially was nervous because he wanted to make a good impression on them because he really liked Eddie and didn't want to lose him if Eddie's friends didn't like him. Richie knew that just met but Eddie just made him feel different, he was the first person that had ever wanted to talk to him. It was a lot of pressure but Richie didn't admit that to Eddie.
Eddie, trying to take Richies mind off of it decided to change the subject. Looking around for something to talk about when his eyes came across his driver's license.
"Hey rich you got your license yet?"
Richies breath hitched at the thought of taking the test again and getting behind the wheel. Driving gave him severe anxiety he would have an attack every time he would put the car in drive. Getting his learners was easy you just had to take a paper test but getting your actual license required driving and that scared Richie. He just couldn't push the gas because of the thoughts going through his mind.
You're going to crash and die. What if you don't hit the break in time and hit some one. What if you lose control of the car. What if, what if, what if.
His father yelling in his ear didn't help. Constantly telling him what a terrible job he was doing, so he just gave up never getting back behind the wheel again. Not since he was sixteen.
"Uh no not yet."
"How old are you?"
"Seventeen" Richie said quietly.
"Seventeen! And you still haven't gotten yet? You must be a pretty bad driver." Eddie said and laughed.
"Listen Eddie not everyone can get behind a wheel and drive ok!" Richie yelled in an angry tone.
Eddie looked over at Richie who now had his back turned to him looking out the window. He slouched down in his seat with a small frown. He didn't mean to make Richie mad he didn't know.
"I'm sorry rich I didn't know."
"It's ok it's not your fault I shouldn't have yelled at you like that."
They pulled into the diner parking lot and parked in the spot next to the door.
"Let's just go inside and meet your loser friends." Richie said as he opened the door to get out and smiled at Eddie.
Eddie rolled his eyes trying to hold back the smile on his face.
Richie opened the door to the diner getting blasted in the face with heat. He opened it wider and bowed as Eddie passed him walking threw the door. Eddie rolled his eyes and flipped him off. Richie chuckled following in behind him scanning the diner until he laid his eyes on a group of teenagers in the back corner sitting in a booth. Eddie waved his hand over at the group and jogged towards them Richie trying to keep up with him. They stopped now standing in front of the losers. Richie tapped his fingers on the side of his legs not making eye contact with the group.
