I woke up relieved that my horrible headache was gone. I sighed and slid out of bed wondering where I was. I stood in a small room, only accompanied by a bed, dresser and closet. I stumbled around until I finally reached the door, twisting the handle.

I slowly walked into the bathroom and looked at the mirror and yawned. I washed water around in my mouth and spat it out. I dabbed my mouth dry and checked my teeth in the mirror. Nothing seemed out of place, but that could've been just because I was asleep.

I heard distant conversations and tip toed towards the noise. I peeked around the corner to see Colton and Sherry, sipping coffee and chatting.

'We got one part done,' Sherry smiled. 'I know, but we still have to explained what's happened.' Colton put his head down. 'Look at the bright side, she's one of us now.' I snuck out now, making myself visible and they stopped.

Colton looked sad, and Sherry smiled excitedly, patting a spot next to her on the two seated sofa. I sat down, wiping my eyes from sleep. 'Colton get her a coffee!' She insisted and he stood up.

'Thanks,' I smiled gratefully at her. 'Woah,' she trailed off. 'Colt, she's already grown some.' And I stopped and looked the both of them. Colton slammed a coffee mug on the wooden table and looked directly at me.

Sherry smiled and I noticed something I hadn't before. Fangs? Did she have fangs? I stood up and looked at her weirdly. 'Dawn,' Colton said and white, pointed teeth poked out the bottom of his top lip.

'What's, what's happening?' I stuttered and held my head. 'Dawn, you're a vampire.' Colton whispered to me, now I was the time bomb. I stepped backwards and tripped over my own feet. 'If you just sit down, we'll explain everything.' Sherry tried to calm me down. At this point I was on the floor, crawling backwards.

I stopped when I felt a figure behind me and looked up to see Colton smirking. I stood up and even though there was no where to go, I ran. I was headed for the front door when small hands wrapped around me. I screamed and Sherry shook me violently. 'Stop Dawn.' She said so calm it scared me.

I slid down the door and placed my head between my knees. I heard two simultaneous thumps and looked up to see Colton and Sherry looking quite disappointed. 'What do you want from me?' I asked and I felt tears brim my odd eyes. 'We want to protect you,' Colton explained.

'From what?' I asked, still confused at the situation. 'If you sit down and promise not to run off we'll explain everything.' I nodded my head yes and stood up, waddling over to the sofa we were once planted on.

'Okay, Dawn. It started in 1624.'

Báthory Manor, 1624, Translyvania.

I can't believe my mother had dragged me over to this stupid get together. 'Colton, darling. It'll be good for you, socially.' She explained and I rolled my eyes. No matter how much I debated on my part, she insisted I came with.

I wondered around the 'party' and my eyes gazed the mansion. I have no clue who this lady was, nor her family. But, as mother said. I had nothing better to do. I sighed and sat down on the bottom step of the oak staircase.

My life had been nothing but misery for the last few years. I was sure that this was my sign. This was the sign that would end all misery. I stood up and straightened out my black t-shirt. Today would be the day I finally made something of my life. I would be known. It's the 1600's for Christ sake.

I checked for watchers before I left the antique double doors and escaped into the cool night. Stars were sprinkled lightly among the black sky and there was a shine of dark purple. I wondered along until I came upon a gutter, and sat myself comfortably.
