GUYS. I have many excuses on why I have been inactive, (most of them are pretty bad but I won't get into that), one of them which I think you might like to hear is, I'm working on a new thriller/suspense book! The title so far is 'How To Get Away From Murder'. After this chapter I will post the description I have written up, so make sure you give me your thoughts on it! (I will finish this book first of course).
Keep reading! x
(Also, Marilyn Manson cover up the top for this chapter!)
• Alicia"They went in here, I seen Sam" he stopped us in front of a blue and white striped tent. "Alright, thanks for the help", I patted his back and continued towards the entrance of the shabby 'shelter'. I was stopped by a hand on my shoulder and spun around so quickly I got head spins. "What are you doing?! What do u mean thanks for the help??" He seemed flustered and confused, his hands were planted on on either side of my face, shaking the day lights out of me.
"Chill dude!" I shoved him lightly to get him out of his concerning phase. "Sorry.." He mumbled, realising how he over-reacted majorly. "It's fine, but I need to get Colton, and get the heck out of here." I explained to him as fast paced as I could. If this kid didn't hurry up, my partner in crime could be dead, or worse. "I will help you get your friend, on one condition. You take me with you, you have to get me away from this place or they will kill me", he pleaded, his eyes filled with terror and I could tell that sadly, he was correct.
I nodded in response, I couldn't do this by myself. "When we get Colton out safe, you can come with us, but why do you trust us? We're the same as them, we could do the exact same thing." I asked, curiosity laced throughout my question. "You's aren't the same, I know it" he gave a half-heartedly smile.
"Where's a less obvious entrance then Leo?" I asked politely, trying to gain his trust so we could work strongly together on this. He grabbed my hand a bit like Colton does, immediately calming me down a little. Continuing around the fair grounds, we stopped cautiously a few times after Leo was paranoid someone spotted us. Safety first right?
"Okay", Leo kneeled down in the dirt behind a rotting shack. He picked up a pebble and a pull-tab and layed them amongst the map he had drawn with his finger in the dust. "I", he picked up the pull tab and and bounced it around in the dirt, like you move a playing piece in a board game. "Will go around to the right here, and you", he picked up the grey stone, "will go straight in, a bit like.." he paused for a second. "What's that word where it's like recycle and psychic?" He asked me, making me chuckle. "Reverse psychology?" I questioned, after thinking of the context he was using it in. He snapped his fingers at me to represent my correct-ness.
After going over the plan a various number of times, I finally understood which direction it was heading in. I had a strange feeling about this, but as well as that, I was extremely hopeful. Maybe something would work, maybe this time something would actually go my way. "Are you ready for this?" Leo looked nervous, too nervous. "Kid, if you don't calm down, your nervousness could ruin this", I grabbed his shoulder, calming him with that dreamy tone of voice. He blew a hot breath of air out, smelling the slight scent of peppermint in the atmosphere, I let go of his shoulders, preparing myself.
This was really it. Today would be the day that Colton was the damsel in distress and I, Dawn would be the heroine. It felt odd, having to step up to the plate to be brave and have the whole situation weighed on your shoulders and I knew I wouldn't be getting used to it any time soon. "Okay!" Leo drummed into my thoughts purposely, clearing his throat he looked toward the ground, "we should probably get moving, don't you think?" He kicked a rock over towards the tent entrance, where I was seconds away from going through.
"Let the show begin"
"Isn't this place a mess." I mumbled to myself after standing in the doorway. There were people scattered throughout the place, women mostly. After a double take I realised some where the show girls, that were previously on stage that night, hopefully none of them knew about the slip up I had with their friend.
