Chapter 7 - Dinner's Ready

A R I A N A

“Mary?” I said as I closed the door.

“Oh honey I’m on the phone with your mom!” She shouted all the way from the kitchen.

“Ooh, can I talk to her?” I haven’t called her since this weekend.

“Oh sure just let me say goodbye.” I put the kettle on and prepare two mugs while my mum and her sister say their goodbyes.

“Here you go.” Aunt Mary hands me the cordless telephone.

“Hi mum! How are you?” I chirped.

“Hey, honey. Oh I’m great! Today was the best day since I came here.” She arrived to Hawaii about two days ago. “It was so sunny and the beach is absolutely mesmerising. Oh, I wish you were here but I kind of don’t.” she laughed.

“Hurtful, mum!” I faked a hurt tone.

“No not in that sense. In the sense of; being alone with John. He is the best! He took me on his yacht early this morning and we spent the best four hours there just lying in the sun and drinking cocktails. It was so great getting to know him without any interruptions. Not that I didn’t know anything about him but this time the conversations were more intimate.” She gave out a happy sigh.

“Yeah, okay, mum. I don’t need to hear that part. It’s good to know you’re having fun though.  I’m really happy to hear you finally found a man, who you’re confident about.” I said honestly.

“Awh, thank you, love. Alright I’ll have to catch up with you later, John is taking me to a beautiful restaurant for supper and I have to get ready.”

“Okay, have fun. Don’t forget to use protection.”

She let out a laugh as if I just told her I just had sex with a monkey. “Won’t be doing any of that tonight, honey.” She chuckled. “But thanks for the tip, I’ll keep it in mind for next time,” Okay, ew. I was just joking. I didn’t know there was gonna be a next time. Ew. “I have to go now, and I think so do you if you wanna keep that job of yours. Bye now! Have fun and don’t do anything you will regret afterwards.”

“I could say the same thing to you, mum. Bye, I’ll talk to you tomorrow I if find some time.” I ended the call.

“That sounded like a fun conversation.” Aunt Mary laughed.

“Yeah, I’m heading upstairs for a shower then I’m out, ‘kay?” I smiled grabbing my coffee in one hand and my phone in the other.

“Sure”

“Oh just put them over here, that’ll be fine thank you.” Darcy said. Who is she talking to?

“There we go.” A male voice said.

Darcy came into the living room, where me and Leon were, alongside a tall, well-built man. He had short black hair gelled backwards… he looked sleek.

“Guys this is my friend from work, Lee.” He smiled at us. “Lee, this is my youngest Leon and his wonderful nanny, Ariana.” I stood up to shake his hand. He has a firm shake that says he means business. Well, he is dressed in a suit. I don’t suppose he sells hot dogs for a living.

“Nice to meet you, love.” Ooh he’s British.

“You too, uh, Darcy, may I speak to you in the kitchen please.” I asked politely.
