Chapter 2 - America
A R I A N A
I can’t believe this?!” I slammed the mug in my hands against the counter. Thankfully it didn’t break. She keeps giving me surprises. First grandpa died, and then she has a freaking boyfriend (that has been dating for a long time apparently) and now no uni! “Sweetie, I’m sorry.” Oh no she didn’t! I ran my hand a across the surface of the counter to supposedly calm myself down. “Oh don’t ‘sweetie’ me! I’m not going to boarding school just because you’re going on a damn cruise! I can live by myself you know!” I screamed until my lungs are aching. She frowned and reached out for my hand but I snatched it away immediately. “You can’t live by yourself honey, you’re still fragile and your dad’s family are still out there.” Oh great! She’s bringing up those guys again. I scowled at her and let out a frustrated sigh. “But … I guess I could arrange something with Mary. If you don’t want to go to boarding school that is.” A smile appeared on my face and my hatred towards my mother started to fade.
I ran to the living room and grabbed the cordless telephone. I dialled my aunt’s number as fast as my little fingers could and she answered on the first ring. See Auntie, this is why I love you.. “Auntie!” I shouted into the little microphone and my mum started laughing at my childish manner of greeting her sister. “Oh, hi cupcake. What do you need sweetie?” Her sweet voice soothes me and for some reason it’s the only voice I trust most after my mum’s. “What makes you think I need something? Can’t I just call my aunt because I want to check up on her?” I innocently asked her. Both her and my mum let out a heart-warming laugh. “Okay so here’s the deal. Firstly do you know John? You know … mum’s boyfriend?” She mumbled something about her sister ‘never taking a break’ and I took it as an opportunity to continue my proposal. “So he invited her to go on this cruise he owns and then they go to Hawaii for four months where he has a huge beach house that he also owns.” She gasped into the receiver, “I didn’t know he was that rich!” I let out a small laugh at the memory of when my mother told me how many things he owned. “Yeah apparently he has some kind of beaver that poops gold. Anyways, your stupid sister thought she could free herself of me by sending me to a freacking boarding school instead of uni!” She gasped again, I knew she would be on my side the moment he answered the call. ”Yeah I know. So we were thinking that I could live with you for a while?” I asked as sweetly as possible. “Well it’s been pretty lonely ‘round here ever since your cousin left so I could use all the company I could get.” She sayed quielty still thinking about my reuest. “I’ll take that as a yes. Thanks auntie. America here I come!” I shouted into the recever.

I knocked on the door leading to my aunt’s house but there’s no answer. I knocked again but the door was left unopened. Mabe she’s sleeping or something of that sort. Or maybe she fell down the stairs and broke her leg.
“Aunt Mary .. it’s me open up!”
No Answer
“Auntie!”
Nothing
“Coming!” A sigh of relif escaped my mouth as I removed the horrible thoughts out of my mind.
“Auntie” I enveloped her into a tight hug as soon as she opened the door but she winced at my touch. Her action awakened my curiosity and I pulled my eyebrows into a frown asking for an explanation. “Oh, I tripped down the stairs just a minute ago. But don’t mind me, come in. How was the flight? Oh, were there any cute attendants? Have you had a boyfriend since the accident? Did they have food on the plane? Of course not, you look like a piece of spaghetti. Are you hungry? Do you like burgers? I could go for some McDonald right about now.” She finally stopped her interrogation and moved away from the door giving me space to enter her mansion.
