If we remember back to book 13: The Poison Jungle, you may recall Hawthorn being all sad about being banished from the LeafWing kingdom to find a cure for the Breath Of Evil- but he was constantly talking about being with Sequoia, the queen of the LeafWings again.
Also, Sequoia's husband is never mentioned in any of the book, but she must have one, because she has a daughter, Hazel, who is most likely not adopted.
