Cabrena ran through the thicket into the cold winter air, her cheeks were tinted a rosy red as her puffs of air could be seen in the frigid night. She bundled Mark in her spare shirt so he wouldn't catch a cold, as his cheeks flushed from the cold with tiny sneezes coming out every once in a while. Praying for shelter, the angel hides between trees to deter the scouts from the vampire group.

It feels like hours have passed for Cabrena until she found a building on the outline of the dark forest, it loomed over the snow-covered grass like a metal giant sleeping through the season. The windows were dark and nothing could be seen out of any of them, well except for one small window on the first floor of the seemingly abandoned building. The window had the lights on even though nothing could be seen from inside as dark curtains hid the interior of the room, it was peculiar to see human technology still at work since most of the technology was either destroyed or repurposed by all sorts of creatures.

Cabrena carefully circled the building looking for anything that seemed dangerous, but she only found rusty pieces of iron and creaky windows that blew eerily with the wind. Mark snorted softly into her chest, his small body huddled in the over-sized shirt that wrapped around him like a blanket. Small puffs of air could be seen from both Mark and Cabrena in the frigid plains, the angel slowly inches her way towards the slightly open door. Anxiousness clouding her mind, focusing all her senses on the darkened environment ready to run at the slightest sign of danger.

Creaking doors and dusty hallways is what greeted Cabrena in their seemingly lonely home. She tightened her grip on Mark, peeking around corners for any form of life. Passing silently by outdated medical equipment and peculiar machinery, the faint sound of voices could be picked up from across the hallway. Unfamiliar voices could be clearly heard arguing from the doorway, a faint light could be seen peeking from the worn metal door.

"No, Jack I won't go to the vampire's clan to ask for resources. Not only will I be defenseless, but why would they help us instead of you know, EATING US!" shrieked a high-pitched male voice, that sounded a lot like static from one of those old human machines.

"Anti what are we supposed to do? Beg the witches to give us more time on an already elongated deadline! If we don't give them results, they will use our bodies for their hectic spells" an exasperated male voice, that was even more high-pitched than the previous one, pointed out like an angry mother to a fussy child.

"Besides, the vampires will want to help us if we offer in exchange our services to them. After all, I did hear that the new king is looking for aid with his hunger." the one who seems more rational pointed out to his fellow comrade. Cabrena was intrigued by their conversation, listening intently looking for clues that would suggest what these creatures are. Unfortunately for her, Mark's small body was shivering harshly causing him to sneeze from the built up pressure in his chest. Cabrena bolted hiding behind a desk, praying that the creatures didn't make it to the hallway before she could hide. Cabrena yelped when she felt a hand wrap around her waist, picking her up like she weighed nothing. She kicked and punched with all her might, trying to harness magic from her body to attack the assailant. The male that picked her up brought Cabrena to the lit up room, throwing her to the wall harshly and taking her weapon and pointing it at her threateningly.

Cabrena huddled against the moldy wall, keeping Mark close to her chest. Glaring hatefully at the two males in front of her, daring them to come any closer to her. Mark was silently crying in her chest, shaking softly from the impact against the wall. His left leg was bruised on the side and his eyes were red and puffy from the crying.

"Now you are going to tell us what you are doing here in our place, spying on us. Otherwise, we will kill you and take the child with us" The male with the glitchy voice spoke menacingly.

"How can I trust you to not kill me and take him from me right now? How can I trust you to not kill me for telling the truth? I don't even know what you are!" Cabrena spat at them, rage building up in her body to an explosive point.

"We won't kill you if you are honest with us, we are only trying to protect ourselves. My name is Jack, his is Anti and we swear on our lives that we will not kill you if you have no ill intent towards us" The other male now known as Jack expressed to her as calmly as possible.

"We will not hurt him either if thats what you are worried about, because we are human..."
