JJ couldn't sleep that night once she got home. She tried to replace the presence of Emily with Will but all of a sudden things felt different. JJ has always loved sleeping with someone by her side, it's always been her favorite position. She She couldn't count the endless nights her mom sat at the edge of her bed patting down her shoulder or curled up behind her tracing warm circles into her back until she fell asleep. Every friendship that ended, every relationship that ended, every bump in the night that made her cry from her younger childhood, nothing couldn't be solved by the comfort of falling asleep with someone. But tonight as she laid in Wills arms, his arms holding her tight against him as slumbered breaths tickled her ear, the moonlight casting in its last rays of moonshine before the sun came up in less than 4 hours, she couldn't shake the feeling of being next to Emily and how different it felt.

Although she wasn't fully asleep she felt like she could fall asleep at any moment but the uncertainty kept her awake. Thoughts like "What am I doing?" "Is she awake? Is she feeling this?" And famously, "What is she thinking?"

In all the years the two women have worked together JJ could never tell if Emily ever felt a certain way towards her. She always had her doubts but never has she physically seen any real sign. Emily's never been the type to exploit her personal relationships to the team and JJ always wondered if there was a reason for that or if Emily was naturally selective with that type of information. After all Emily did say she was better at compartmentalizing than most people and only now did JJ truly understand what she meant by that.

It took some time to see it but now that she has JJ can't unsee it. She's got a taste now and has had a craving for it all night. When JJ woke up with Will getting Henry ready for school she made an appearance long enough for breakfast and a casual morning conversation but by the time Will was leaving to drive Henry to school JJ picked up her phone and called a number who just so happened to right up in her recents. The phone rang it's third ring when self-conscious thoughts began to seep in and JJ started to tell herself that Emily wasnt even awake yet but before she could hang up a not-so groggy voice answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Emily," An obvious statement but it felt necessary for confirmation.

"JJ? I thought today was supposed to be our day off. We have a case already?" She said in disbelief but not necessarily surprised as though she'd be expecting it eventually. In fact she's almost been hoping it since last nights jet ride home. She couldn't explain it, not even to herself and god knows she stayed up all night trying to. She's been trying to talk herself out of and into hope at the same time. Always coming back to the main obstacle that JJ has a family, a Fiancé and a son. This conflict standing in the way of all things Emily felt for JJ since they first met and there's no way around that roadblock.

Instead Emily will wait for JJ to give the go ahead. If there's anything at all that could happen between the two it would be JJs call. Emily understands her morals and she could not disrespect JJ or go behind backs to get what she wants. She will stay patient and wait for JJ to come to her, which just so happened when Emily answered her phone from her bed stand where she was still in a very light phase of sleep as her mind is always a go. Especially with her walls down.

"There's no case yet," JJ explains slightly, "I was wondering if you'd be interested in grabbing coffee with me. That café down on Holland." She furthered.

"I know it," Emily confirms with a sudden dopey grin that stretched from ear to ear. "I'll need a few to get ready though,"

"Take your time, say 7?" Emily pulled the phone away from her ear for only a split second to check the time, it was 6:45 which relatively gave Emily the perfect amount of time to get ready. She'd be a few minutes late but doubted the possibility that a case would come in between the time slot. She'd be lucky to get one sip in before some small town halfway across the country would wake up with a serial killer on the loose and call them in ASAP for a profile. It's happened more times than she could count but was looking forward to this get together so much that she for once carried hope.
