At a Public/Secondary School in Japan, 10th Grade Section B Classroom, 3rd Floor.Crash!
Whack!
Thud!
Bam!
These weren't the only sounds heard in the "supposedly empty" classroom that afternoon. Accompanying those violent noises were the coughing, crying and yelling of a seventeen-year-old schoolboy. He was Izumi Tatsuyama, a...somewhat normal teen at Raiga Academy.
Izumi was very intelligent for his age. He spoke English fluently due to his heritage --- he's part British, part Filipino and half Japanese, acted formally and kindly to his classmates and peers, obeyed orders when he logically sees if they're good or not, and overall was a nice guy.
People would probably think there'd be some kids in his school envious of his intellect or girls swooning around him for his calm and nice demeanor. Would it be a surprise if the opposite is true? It probably isn't for poor Izumi. His classmates would constantly pester him with spit and crumpled paper balls. Things were thrown at him and he would be thrown into school assets as well. Not one day was he given a break from the endless bullying and harassment. Not. One. Day.
But why was he even getting this sort of treatment? Well, it was due to his condition; or should I say, conditions.
At the age of 9, Izumi had been diagnosed with red-green color deficiency --- he isn't colorblind; however, if an array of different shades of a particular color such as yellow or blue was to be displayed in front of him, he would only be able to discern a little over half the colors. This is a lot more calm than the others.
Two and a half years later his eyesight worsened considerably. His parents never bothered with anything about his health. After years of reading and viewing things on screens and whiteboards his right eye had blurred vision. He used to wear glasses but turned to contact lenses.
That doesn't stop there though. The worst has yet to come. In a car crash half a year later a huge scar was left on his left cheek that went all the way to his left eye. Izumi resorted to wearing a face mask that covered his left eye, nose and mouth, much like Kakashi Hatake from Naruto.
The same year he was diagnosed with clinical depression that was, as they doctor and therapists have concluded, due to family problems and neglect. His self-esteem went through a whole 180 from his childhood.
Another 3 years later at the age of 15, he was again diagnosed with an anxiety disorder known as GAD. Medication was a must by this point and poor little Izumi probably wouldn't have made it if his family didn't buy any.
And a few months ago from the present, his left arm got beaten up so badly by his classmates and/or bullies, whichever you prefer to call them, that he would have to wear a cast. The arm became the primary target for inflicting harm to the teen.
