"Merry Christmas!" Everyone yelled at me as I walked down the stairs half asleep.
"Why are you all here?" I asked as I looked at the clock. It was seven o'clock in the morning.
"We just said it was Christmas, are you deaf?" Austin joked.
"Are you aware it's seven in the morning?" I questioned.
"Yes! We've been waiting for you for twenty minutes!" Michele said watching Colt playing with toys from his stocking.
I remember last Christmas, being in Maine with my Grandma. I missed her, but we really didn't have time to go visit her this time. I felt bad thinking of her sitting all alone in the kitchen drinking her coffee watching the snow fall. Then she'll look over at the tree to only see about ten small gifts. And she'll think about how much she misses Grandpa and how sad this time of year is without him.
He loved Christmas. Before he died he would volunteer at the Children's Hospital in Portland and go to kids rooms dressed as Santa Claus. He asked them what they wanted for Christmas, and most of the said to get better.
"C'mon Sam! These kids want to open their presents!" Austin said. Yeah right, he wanted to open his presents.
"Sam! Look at my firetruck! Now my army guys can put fires out!" Colt said to me. He's such a cute kid.
"I want to open this one." Bridget said picking up a medium sized box.
"That one's for last Sweetie." My mom told her. It was an iPhone. She has been begging for one since I got mine over a year ago.
I had no idea what I was getting. Like, at all.
"Here you go." Austin said coming over next to me on the couch. He handed me a box.
"I'll open it last." I said sticking my tongue out at him.
"Your loss." He said sitting back.
"Merry Christmas Sam." Michele said handing me a present.
I began to tear off the paper and then stopped and smiled as I saw what it was.
"Oh my god. You know me too well." I said then showed them the new Justin Bieber perfume.
"Someday last year, Girlfriend this year." Michele joked.
"Thank you."
We watched Colt open his countless gifts and Bridget open her iPhone. She'll be thirteen in a couple of months but still, too young for an iPhone.
"Here's yours." I said to Austin handing him a bag.
"Feels pretty light.." He said holding it up with one finger.
"Just open it!" I said to him.
"Fine." He said pulling the paper out. Then he saw the two tickets at the bottom of the bag.
"Seriously?" He asked.
"Yep." I smiled.
"What'd you get?" Michele asked.
"Tickets to see Justin Bieber. I mean meet and see him." Austin said in shock.
I contacted Justin, since we had met before, and asked if I could get some tickets, since the show was sold out. He said I'd still have to pay for some of it, but he said he could hook me up.
"Thanks." Austin said kissing my cheek.
"Now open the one he got for you!" Michele said. I guess she knew what I was getting.
"No way! He's getting his opened last! Plus I still have to open the 'big' gift from my parents." I said.
"Here." My dad said.
It was an envelope. Just an envelope with my name in my dad's chicken scratch writing. I opened it and found a letter.
'Samantha,
We had just about no idea what to get you so we thought that this would be acceptable. We will allow you to go to Austin's concerts after school ends and live with Michele and him over the summer, this includes going on tour if that is to happen.
Love,
Mom and Dad.'
"No way." I said re-reading the letter.
"Yes way, that was Michele's idea so you should thank her too." My mom said.
"Thank all if you!" I said giving them each a huge hug.
"What was it?" Austin asked.
"Read for yourself." I said and then proceeded to open the gift he had given me. I unwrapped it and found a puzzle box. I looked at him confused.
"Oh, it's inside." He said still reading the letter.
I opened the box and found a note card.
'Look in your room. Love, Austin.'
"What? How? You've been down here all morning." I asked.
"Just go!" Austin said.
I ran upstairs and into my room and lying in a cage looking sleepy was a small dog.
I picked it up and carried it downstairs.
"He got me a puppy!" I basically screamed.
------------------
It turns out that little Frenchie is a Pomeranian. Yes, I named the dog Frenchie, it fits. Austin has been saying that the tickets were too much even though I continue to tell him I didn't pay full price and that there was a ticket for me too so how was it too much?
Michele is more than excited for the summer and not going to lie, I am too. Michele said that she won't be going to all the shows but she'll be a call away. Not like Austin and I really mind, we'll both be seventeen when the summer starts so we'll basically be able to do anything we want. Well, almost everything.
This New Year's Eve is a lot different from lasts. We threw that awesome party last year, but this time we're all just hanging out at Austin's and watching the ball drop. It's weird to think that this time last year I was madly in love with Alex and now I'm dating Austin, his best friend. Not my fault he was an idiot though.
-------------------
"5, 4, 3, 2, ...1! Happy New Year!" We all yelled.
"Happy 2013." Austin said to me.
"Oh just kiss me already." I said pulling him in and kissing him.
Perfect way to ring in the new year.
