??? POV

"You didn't kill the girl!" a woman in purple screamed over the phone, "How are you supposed to get another job if you can't do this one!?"

She other woman flinched on the other line, "I-I'm sorry,"

"I don't want your apology - I want that girl dead," "Well, now you have to go and kill her," the purple lady mumbled, "And you have to succeed this time,"

"The arrangement was that you were going to pay me up-front, I want my payment before I do anything else," the girl frantically spoke.

"You're going to get it once you kill her!" "B-But that was the deal!" "Why would I pay you for a job you didn't do!?" the lady in purple sighed deeply.

"Kill her, and you get your pay," "That wasn't the deal - I will not do it!" the lady shouted back. Alya was eating her breakfast in the other room, hearing somebody screaming over the phone.

She quickly went and picked up one, joining the call without anyone noticing. "I don't care about this - you're going to kill Marinette Dupain-Cheng, and then you get your pay. Unless you and your daughter would rather live on the streets?"

"I..." The other girl had hung up before she had a chance to protest. Alya froze - it was her mom who was trying to kill her best friend.

***

Marinette was quietly watching the television with Adrien leaning over her in the hospital room. "Marinette Dupain-Cheng?" the doctor asked as she nodded, "I have some bad news,"

Marinette froze for a split second. "W-What?" "No, no, not that bad - you're just not giving birth today. You've had false contractions,"

Marinette released a breath as Adrien rubbed her shoulder. "So, what does that mean - timing-wise," "It could be any time now, it could be 3 weeks or 3 hours. I just suggest that you and your husband get some sleep while you still can," he walked out of the room.

Marinette didn't comment on the fact the doctor had called them husband and wife. She had hoped that Adrien would - but of course, he just let it slide like it was nothing.

She had truly thought that the idea of marrying Adrien would be her dream, and if she proposed she would probably say yes - but that was a decision he had to make. She was walking back to the car when she stopped from a buzz from her phone.

"Hello?" "Marinette, come quick, to my house," Alya mumbled on the other line. "Are you okay?" Marinette quickly asked. "Yes, yes," she sighed, "Just come, quick as you can," she hung up.

Marinette was a bit in shock, missing the regular happiness that had been in her friend's tone. She had gotten into her parent's car - Adrien in the driver's seat. "What do you think happened?" Marinette fumbled with her fingers.

He shrugged. "I'm sure things are under control," "But what if it's not..." He sucked in a breath, "Marinette, I know that you tend to worry about stuff like this - but we don't know anything yet -  so let's just relax until we get there."

She nodded, looking out the window. Even after Adrien's warning, she still wasn't very sure things were alright. They parked along the curb and got out of the car. There was the...police there?

Marinette looked frantically at her boyfriend as he cleared his throat. "What happened here?" he spoke up as everyone turned to them. "We found who has been attempting to kill you all this time," Nino spoke, comforting his crying girlfriend.

"W-What?" Marinette sucked in a breath, "Who?" Adrien asked, speaking so his girlfriend could process everything. "It was Lila and...Alya's mom,"

Marinette froze.

"What," she mumbled as Alya cried harder. "Why," Adrien's loose tone was swapped with a stern one. "S-She wasn't the first one, but she was the one at the hospital," Alya's voice shook, "She needed the money, or at least that's what I heard from over the phone." Nino finished her thought for her.

Marinette wanted to be mad - she wanted to be mad so bad - but she couldn't. Her best friend needed her - even if her mom had done something very wrong to try and hurt her. "I...what's going to happen?" Marinette whispered.

"They're probably going to arrest them, but we have to wait and see what the police say," Alya muttered. Marinette's eyes softened as she turned to face Lila. "Why, why do you hate me?" Marinette asked her voice barely over a whisper.

She didn't reply. "I don't hate you," Lila started to cry, "S-Someone threatened me, and I thought I had to do this to live!"

"Stop with the lies!" Marinette screamed back, Adrien having to hold her back. "Fighting won't do any justice - when she goes to jail, that will provide your justice," Adrien whispered into her ear as she sighed.

Marinette didn't want to face Alya's mom; she couldn't believe that after knowing her for so long, she was possibly going to kill her daughter's best friend. "We can go if you want if you don't feel comfortable," he pulled her over to the side of the house.

He draped his arm over her shoulders as she sighed. "I-I can't leave - Alya needs me here. Besides, nothing worse could happen," Marinette started to walk as he grabbed her arm. "Don't just stay here if you're doing it for her,"

Marinette turned back to face him, "I am staying here - and it's because she jeopardized her mother's future - and hers - to make sure that I would get justice,"

Marinette sat down - with some help from her boyfriend - on the steps beside her friend, who was still sniffling. "I'm sorry, Marinette," her voice was altered by her stuffed nose. She rested a hand on Alya's back, "Don't apologize," she looked at her feet, "It must have been hard calling the police on you're own mom," Marinette realized that her saying this must've made her feel worse.

"W-What I mean is that I respect you for doing that - I would never have the guts to," Marinette thought about her mother - what if she had to call the police because of a crime she had commit? Marinette looked up and saw a small purple broach peaking out from Lila's bag.

Marinette's eyes widened.

It was a Miraculous.

"A-Adrien!" Marinette stammered as he rushed up to her, helping her get up. "I-It's Lila! She's Lady Amethyst," Lila flinched at the statement, whipping her head around. "It's not me!" Lila screamed back.

"What-" "G-Go grab it! It's in her bag," Marinette interrupted as Lila quickly transformed, breaking free from the handcuffs.

"Oops, I lied,"

...wOw. Okay, so it's confirmed who the shooter was - and yes I'm very proud of Alya for sticking up :). But, it's still so sad...

So, Lila is Lady Amethyst - I think everyone saw that coming though-

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the chapter, and stay tuned!! ONLY 5 CHAPTERS LEFT ;-;
