Hey guys, Clippy checking in :P. So, the last chapter...yikes. So they found out Lila was Lady Amethyst - but will they find out who the original owner of the butterfly miraculous was?
Well...only one way to find out! Enjoy :)!
Before Lila leaped off, Adrien pulled her hair, thrusting her onto the floor. Nino scrambled and grabbed her broach, the police resuming to pinning her to the side of the house. Neuro fluttered out, the murky purple wings on the miraculous fading away.
"Neuro, are you okay," Marinette quickly asked, cupping the kwami in her hands. He nodded, resting in her hands as she smiled softly. "So, Lila was Lady Amethyst," Adrien turned towards her, "Who did you get the miraculous from?"
She laughed, Adrien's glare growing deeper. "You don't want to know~," she hissed as Marinette glanced the other way. "Tell. Me," Adrien faced her directly. Marinette didn't like this side of Adrien - it reminded her a bit of Gabriel Agreste. I mean, like father like son?
She scoffed, "Don't say I didn't warn you." "I got the broach from Gabriel Agreste," she emphasized each syllable, smiling at Adrien's face. It truly looked as if he saw a ghost. "Y-You're doing it again," Adrien yelled, "You're lying!"
She giggled, "I am not." Marinette worriedly glanced at her boyfriend as he leaned against the wall of the house. "Adrien," Nino helped Marinette get up, "Are you okay," she whispered. "No, I'm not okay," Adrien rubbed his hands through his hair.
"Do you want to talk?" "No, I don't," he sucked in a breath, "I don't want to accidentally lose my cool on you," he left briskly as Marinette's eyes teared. Alya was still looking the other way, Nino not knowing what to do.
"What do we do," Marinette cleared her throat, "If he was Hawkmoth, then..." Nino sighed as Alya rubbed the back of her head. "Let's give Adrien some time to chill, then we'll decide together what to do," Nino rubbed his girlfriend's shoulder.
Marinette goes to the other side of the house and sees Alya's mother there. She tries to go back, but she notices her. "Marinette, I'm very sorry," she apologized, Marinette still turned the other way. She played with her fingers, not wanting to risk getting closer to her.
"I thought I was going to get the payment I needed without hurting you," she sucked in a breath, "But, that didn't turn out the way I expected."
Marinette didn't reply. "I do not expect your forgiveness, but I would like to talk." Marinette's breath hitched, she wanted to, but she really couldn't. But...
"Why? Was it because you needed money?" "Yes! I swear that's the only reason why I did it - Alya came home, and I lost my job and..." "I don't think I could trust you again," Marinette felt a small tear dance down her cheek.
"I understand that," "Or, talk to you again." "Marinette..." she walked off before she could finish. She wiped her face, Nino and Alya not knowing what had happened. "You okay?" he finally asked.
"Yeah, I'm good," she breathed.
***
Alya had packed up her stuff from her old house earlier today since her mother was now in prison. Lila was also with her, both of them being arrested for similar things. Adrien was quietly watching the television as Marinette tapped his shoulder.
"Mari? What is it?" he asked, his eyes glued to the screen. "We're going now," Marinette said as he sighed. "Can we do it tomorrow~" "No! We have to do it - I don't want to keep hearing 'what if' for the rest of my days,"
He sighed, getting up. "I'll get dressed," he mumbled, Plagg staying with Tikki and Marinette. Marinette softly smiled, handing Plagg a small piece of cheesecake. Adrien came down minutes later, getting into the driver's seat - Marinette in the back.
Marinette felt a bit bad for forcing her boyfriend to visit his father - who was currently in jail. He had never gotten a chance to ask why, and Marinette was sure that he was not going to be able to recover from the trauma without getting that answer.
They walked into the building, Marinette holding his hand. He went to the front desk, and they went into a separate room, with a glass screen in the middle, separating two desks, with a small telephone on either side. There were about 5 cells in this room, and the other four were all busy.
Adrien sat behind one desk, Marinette watching him over his shoulder. Gabriel came into the room and grabbed the phone. Adrien grabbed the other one, clearing his throat. "Hello, father," Adrien whispered.
"Hello," he cleared his throat, "How are you?" Marinette cringed at the awkward tension between them. "Why did you become Hawkmoth? I would like to know," Adrien jumped straight into the conversation.
Gabriel sighed. "Because, with the wish, I wanted to bring back your mother," Gabriel's brows furrowed. "Don't you know, that there is always a contrast to that wish! Someone would have died,"
Gabriel remained quiet. "What if it was Marinette, or your grandchild, or even me," he went on. "I supposed I was willing to pay that price," Gabriel admits, "I wanted her back very much, you see."
"At the risk of other people's lives!?" Adrien practically yelled, Marinette then resting an arm on his shoulder. He sighed deeply. "The reason you isolated me so much, was because you were busy being a supervillain?"
Gabriel went quiet again. "Five minutes left," the guard reminded us, Marinette still remaining quiet. "..." Adrien couldn't speak a single word. "I-I'll talk to you soon, Dad," he got up, and left the room briskly. Marinette looked back at her boyfriend, looking at Gabriel for a split second before following him.
"Are you okay," she said, taking a long time to catch up with him. He sighed. "Yes, sorry for leaving you in there, I just needed a breath," he mumbled. "That's fine, you don't need to apologize,"
He softly smiled, both of them leaving the building. It was very weird - through everything the teens have been through, they've always had each other's backs. He cleared his throat - he knew it was time.
Anddddd cut. So, this was a bit of a chaotic chapter. But, what do you think that Adrien is thinking of doing...?
Haha, anyway, stay tuned - and have a great day/night!
Bai!
