Katy's pov.
One month. It's been one month since Katy has seen or heard from Niall.
Katy keeps thinking that one of these days he's going to call.
Or at least text. He hasn't even done that. And that's the least he could do.
Yes she could text first, but she was scared too. Why? No one knows.
Instead of moping around about Niall Horan's lack of texts to her, Katy decided to do something productive, check the mail.
She walked out to her mailbox as the warm San Francisco spring air hit her face and body.
When she opened the mailbox, she expected to find the typical bills and occasional junk magazine that no one reads. Instead she found a letter addressed to her. There was no return address on the envelope.
Katy ran inside to open the envelope. She tore it open and took out a folded piece of loose leaf paper. She then unfolded the paper to read what it said.
This is exciting! She thought.
Dear Katy,
I've missed you quite a bit since you left, and I know you've probably missed me too. We've probably missed each other more than we should, since we've only known each other for two weeks.
But to me it doesn't feel like two weeks, two decades more like.
Every time I think about you my heart beats faster and my tummy fills with butterflies.
We haven't spoken since you went away, but I thought that writing a letter would be more meaningful. It was Harry's idea actually. I called him at 2 am because I was sad about you being gone, and his wonderful, sleep deprived brain gave me some great advice. It's hard to ever feel alone when you have a friend like him.
I didn't exactly know how to say what I wanted to, so I wrote it on the back. I came up with the idea of it on my own.
Love,
Niall :)
Tears were starting to form in Katy's eyes. This was why he hadn't said anything until now. He wanted something more meaningful.
Katy flipped the paper over to the back where she saw more writing.
Dear Patience
Can we share a drink and let go of the pressure?
Dear Patience
'Cause the last time that we talked seems like forever, and ever
Feels like you don't even know me
Just me and the stars can get lonely
Hey, can you show your face?
Can you see that I'm anxious?
Can you hear what I'm saying, saying?
Hey, 'cause I fall too fast
And I go down blazing
Can you hear what I'm saying?
Dear Patience
If I pour my heart out, can you keep a promise? (mmhmm)
'Cause the situation
Is like a mountain that's been weighing on my conscience
If I'm being honest
Feels like you don't even know me
Just me and the stars can get lonely
Hey, can you show your face?
Can you see that I'm anxious?
Can you hear what I'm saying, saying?
Hey, 'cause I fall too fast
And I go down blazing
Can you hear what I'm saying?
The way you make time disappear
I hope that I find you my dear
The way you make time disappear
I hope that I find you my dear
Patience
Can we share a drink and let go of the pressure?
Oh, dear Patience
'Cause the last time that we talked seems like forever, and ever
Hey, can you show your face?
Can you see that I'm anxious?
Can you hear what I'm saying, saying?
Hey, 'cause I fall too fast
And I go down blazing
Can you hear what I'm saying?
Dear Patience.
It was a song. Niall Horan had written her a song. Katy was full on sobbing now. No one has ever done anything so sweet for her. She felt loved.
...
All day, Katy thought about the letter and the song. She had made the decision that she needed to call Niall to thank him for doing that for her.
When she picked up her phone to call him, she heard a knock at the door. She got up to see who it was. Who would want to visit her at 10 pm in the pouring rain?
She opened the door.
"Did you get my letter?"
