Louis' pov.
Louis and Niall had devised the most perfect plan for how he was going to propose to Harry. Louis was taking Harry to a botanical garden for lunch, where they would have a picnic.
Today was the day, and by the end of it, Louis hoped to be engaged to the most wonderful person to ever exist. Currently, he was in the car on with Harry on their way to the garden.
"Looouuuu," Harry dragged, "Please tell me where we're going."
"You'll find out when we get there," Louis said for seemingly the twenty-eighth time.
"Are we almost there?" Harry pleaded.
"We'll be there soon." Louis swears Harry is a five year old inside of an adults body.
Harry huffed and leaned his head up against the window pouting. Louis just rolled his eyes fondly.
They got to the botanical garden fifteen minutes later. Louis got out of the car and opened Harry's door for him. Harry stepped out and pecked Louis' lips as a thank you.
When they got inside, Louis dragged Harry over to the rose garden. Their picnic blanket and basket had already been set up before Harry and Louis got there (Zayn had done that).
Louis watched as Harry's face lit up when he saw the little setup. Louis couldn't help but break out into a wide smile. Seeing Harry happy made him happy.
"Is this for me?" Harry guessed giddily,
pointing to the picnic.
"It's for me too," Louis teased.
Harry ran over too the blanket pulling Louis with him. "Alright calm down Haz," Louis laughed. Harry sat down on the ground with Louis' hand still in his.
Louis plopped down right next to him, pulling out the contents of the basket. The food had been cooked by Louis himself, so he was unsure of how it would taste (he was never the best cook). "It's chicken stuffed with mozzarella, wrapped in parma ham, with a side of homemade mash, and a bit of gravy," he explained.
"Who cooked it?" Harry eyed the food skeptically.
"I did."
Harry raised his eyebrows, knowing Louis' track record with cooking things. He grabbed one of the containers of food and a metal fork from the basket. He cut off a piece of the chicken and slowly raised the fork to his mouth. Harry glanced at Louis unsurely, before placing the fork in his mouth. He chewed for a long time with a thoughtful look on his face. After seemingly forever, Harry swallowed before saying, "Not bad."
Louis beamed at the slight praise. "Really?"
"Yeah," Harry grinned, looking at Louis with an infinite amount of love in his beautiful green eyes.
"I love you so much."
"I love you too."
Louis decided that he should now try the food that he cooked. He took a big bite, eyes widening as he realized that he had finally cooked something that didn't taste like absolute shit. "This doesn't taste like shit!" he exclaimed.
"I told you," Harry giggled.
They ate their food with light conversation for the next thirty minutes. Realization and nervousness dawned on Louis as they both finished their food, that he would be popping the question momentarily.
When they were both done eating, Louis put the used containers and utensils back into the basket. He also picked one of the roses that was planted near the picnic blanket, he wasn't sure if he was even allowed to do that but he did anyway.
Harry watched Louis curiously as Louis tucked the flower neatly behind Harry's ear. "What was that for?"
"Nothing," Louis answered lightly. "You're just the most beautiful person ever, and you deserve to be decorated with beautiful things."
"You're a sap," Harry giggled.
Louis knew that now was the time to ask Harry for his hand in marriage. "I remember when we first met how I knew immediately that was going to fall hard for you."
"Did you now?" Harry questioned amusingly.
"Yeah, I took one look at you and knew that you were the person that I'd want to spend the rest of my life with."
Louis took a shaky breath as he reached into his pocket to retrieve the ring. Harry had a confused look on his face.
Harry's eyes widened when he saw the ring in Louis' hands. A hand flew to his mouth as he realized what was happening.
"Harry Edward Styles, will you be my forever?" Louis proposed.
Harry had tears running down his face as he nodded his head vigorously. "Yes?" Louis grinned.
"Yes, yes i'll marry you!" Harry's smile grew even wider as Louis slipped the ring on his left ring finger.
Harry attacked Louis into a big and loving hug, while Louis peppered his face with kisses. "I love you so much you tosser!" Harry exclaimed, still crying.
"I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you!" Louis said between kisses.
"I have to call my mum!"
"Okay baby."
Harry detached himself from Louis and pulled his phone out. A few seconds later he said, "Hi mummy!"
"Hello Harry," Louis heard Anne's voice say.
"Lou's here too!" Harry exclaimed as he moved the screen to where it would show Louis' face.
"Hello Louis," Anne greeted.
"Hey Anne."
"Mum guess what!" Harry said turning the attention back to him, and holding up his left hand so that Anne could see the engagement ring.
"OH MY GOD!" Anne screamed.
"Me and Lou are getting married!"
"When did this happen!?"
"Like ten minutes ago!" Harry sounded so excited, Louis' heart could burst at any moment from how much he loves this boy.
"Well congratulations boys!"
"Thanks mummy."
"And Louis," Louis turned his attention towards Anne. "He's yours forever, so you better not hurt him, or you'll be facing me."
"You know I'd never ever do that," Louis responded. Anne was very threatening, but sweet.
"You better," Anne gave Louis a pointed look.
"We have to go now mum, we have to tell everyone else," Harry ended.
"Bye boys."
"Bye mummy."
"Bye Anne."
Harry hung up the phone and turned to Louis. "We're getting married Lou!" Harry beamed.
