I crouched down beside Ash. I was still shorter when we stood next to each other, even when I wore heels. That made no sense to me.

"Where did you get the guitar?" I asked to make conversation.

"My uncle died and left it to me." How blunt. I hummed my response and grabbed an old coat from my backseat to sit on.

Ash played a rhythm I hadn't heard before. I liked it a lot.

After a while of sitting there, I found us leaning against each other and I was tracing the wood grain of the guitar.

"Hailey," I looked up. "Can I kiss you?"

I felt my face burning as I looked at Ash's deep grey eyes. "Only if I can kiss you too." I whispered rising up to reach their lips.

Ash's lips were chapped but gentle against mine. I moved to deepen it before a car horn startled me and blood filled my mouth. I gasped backing away. Ash looked just as surprised, their bottom lip bleeding.

"Somehow I knew you'd be a biter." They said smiling at me.  Ash pulled a sharpie out of their pocket and pulled my arm closer, rolling up my sleeve. "Call me later. We can go on a date."

Ash put away the guitar, stood and made their way to the grey truck at the far end. I sat shellshocked until my dad came around the side of my car and stood in front of me.

"Are we heading out or are you carrying your car home?" He asked gesturing to his towtruck.

I numbly followed him to the passenger side of the tow truck and clambered in. Ash kissed me and wrote their number on my arm.
