Sofia's POV:
"Rise and shine, Princess Sofia," Baileywick rings.
I groan. "Can I sleep in today, Baileywick?" I really don't feel good."
"I'm sorry, Princess, I'll leave you to rest. Just ring for me or one of the servants and we will bring some food to you immediately if you get hungry." Baileywick walks to leave my room.
"Thank you. Please give everyone my apologies." I fall back asleep.
Third Person POV:
In the dining hall, the Royal family is at the table enjoying their breakfast when Baileywick barges in.
"I'm so sorry to interrupt, your majesties; however, Princess Sofia has just informed me that she isn't feeling well and would like it if she could sleep in today. She sends her apologies."
"Oh dear. It's not like Sofia to miss breakfast like this. I hope she is okay," Miranda speaks of concern for her daughter.
James and Amber share a worried look.
"Thank you, Baileywick," Roland formally states.
Baileywick bows in respect for the king then leaves.
"I'm sure she is fine," Roland answers his wife's earlier statement. "She is probably just tired from all she did last night."
Once Amber and James were finished with their breakfast, they excused themselves and left, leaving only the Royal family and the two queens, who sat there in silence the whole time this took place.Amber's POV:
My twin and I excuse ourselves from the dining table then race to Sofia's room. When we reach our destination, we knock on her door.
no answer
We knock again.
still, no answer
We knock one more time and finally get an answer.
"Yes?" Sofia asks us drowsily.
"Why didn't you come down for breakfast, Sofia?" I ask in a calm tone.
"I'm not hungry," she says simply, yet she sounded kind of angry. Not to say that I can't blame her with everyone bugging her like this, but it's just not like her to do this sort of thing. Maybe me, but not her.
"And...?" I interrogate, knowing there is more than what she has already told us, which hasn't been much.
"I just want to be alone, alright!" She snaps.
James and I look at each other, eyes wide in fear for our sister.
She has never sounded so angry before, I thought to myself.
We walk back downstairs and head for the dining hall once more. When we enter, we look kind of defeated. And judging by everyone's reaction, they could tell.
I take a seat, then Elsa asks me what's wrong.
"Do you mind if I tell you in private?" I question. Then looking at my parents, I say, "No offense, I just think that Sofia would rather talk to her siblings first. And I figure that Queen Elsa can help more in this sort of situation."
"None taken." They both reply in unison.
I signal James to follow Elsa and I out of the dining area.
We walk to the throne room, where no one else currently stands.
"What's the problem?" The Ice Queen asks, looking at us.
"It's Sofia; she isn't acting like herself. She has been shutting us out since last night, and we're really concerned for her."
"Hmm. I see. Well, when Anna and I were kids all the way to when we were teenagers, I continuously shut her out, and she had no idea why either. Just like with my powers, there is probably a reason that goes deeper than the surface of why she's upset."
"I understand. But how can we get her to open up to us?" I ask, hoping there is a way.
"Maybe if I go up there, she will allow me in. If not, you will just have to let nature take its course," she replies.
"I vote for the first option," James chimes in.
We laugh at my brother's insistent joking.
Sofia's POV:
I wake once again to knocking at my door. Why can't everyone just leave me alone?
"Who is it?" I ask the knock.
"It's Elsa. May I come in?"
"I'm not dressed in regular clothing; all I have on is a nightgown?" I say questioningly.
"I don't mind," she said simply.
I sit up then invite her in. "The twins sent you, I see."
She let a small laugh escape her throat as she took a seat on my bed. "Guilty, as charged. Though it was my own choice to come."
"Did you come here to convince me to talk to my siblings?" I ask.
"Guilty, yet again."
I smile at the Queen before me.
"Can I share something with you?" She requests"
"Of course." I supposed.
"When I was your age, I was in the same situation as you are right now."
"How can you say? You don't even know what's wrong." I say in return.
"Maybe not. But I shut Anna out just as you are doing to Amber and James. I didn't think about how Anna felt when I did. I only thought about myself, which was selfish and not the best way to handle it. I only figured this out when I finally let her in. After that, I was no longer scared because I had someone I loved there with me every step of the way. And that's all your brother and sister want to do, they want to help you because they care. I'll leave you to think about that for a while." She walks out of my room.
Was Elsa right? Should I talk to Amber and James? I'm not so sure. But I'll think about it.
Amber's POV:
James and I sit in silence in the throne room, waiting for news on Sofia. It feels like we've been waiting for an hour, but in reality, it had only been thirty minutes since we have last seen Elsa.
We hear the door. We immediately rise from our thrones at the sight of Elsa walking toward us, her lilac, ombré gown with diamond patterns on it, moving behind her like an ocean wave. It kind of reminded me of Sofia. I frown at that thought.
"Anything?" I ask, referring to Sofia.
"I'm guessing she will be thinking about what I told her," Elsa said with a wink, then walked off.
James and I look at each other with relief written all over our faces then we decide to go back up to Sofia's room.
Catching onto this, Elsa said, "Also, leave her to her thoughts for a while, will you?" Then she leaves the room.
James and I sulk but obey.
[1 hour later]
James and I were in the Royal Game Room playing chess when Baileywick walks in.
"Ahh, there you two are. Your sister had sent me to inform you that she would like to speak with you both in her room," he speaks to us.
We perk up at that just as Baileywick is leaving.
We race out of the game room, passing servants on our way to Sofia's room saying, 'excuse me' and 'pardon me' or some other variations of those phrases.
We pause at Sofia's door, and I knock for probably about the millionth time.
"Come in."
We walk into her room to see her sitting on her bed in a plain purple silk nightgown. She signals for us to sit as well.
"I'm sorry I kept pushing you two away. There has just been something on my mind," she explains.
"Are you ready to share that something now?" I ask.
"Amber!" James hits my arm.
"Ow! Okay, I'm sorry, Sofia, I just want to help you," I say sincerely.
"I know, I appreciate that. But actually, I really would like to get it off my chest," Sofia replies. "Why don't we have a sibling sleepover party?" She suggests.
"Great idea!" James and I chorused.
"Perfect, grab your stuff and meet me back in here. I will get everything ready." She smiles.
