Chapter 5

*Next Day*

The morning came and the Survey Corps. returned from their expedition. The crowd was cheering and the entire 104th Cadet Corps was there also.

"Commander Erwin, kill the Titans for us!" a soldier in the crowd yelled.

"Hey look, it is Captain Levi. It is said that he is as strong as an entire brigade!" another soldier yelled.

"Tch, shut up." Levi said.

"It has been five years since the last attack, this must be a good sign." a soldier behind Eren said.

"Yeah, we have also improved the cannons, maybe the Titans won't come back after seeing our weaponry." another soldier followed up.

Eren was with Armin and Mikasa in complete silence.

"Eren, you don't seem amused that the Survey Corps. has returned. Why is that?" Armin questioned.

"It just gets old, Armin." Eren simply said.

"Well, well, well, look at what we have here." a man behind Eren said.

Eren turned around to see who it was. It was Hannes.

"Hannes!" Eren said surprised.

"I heard you all graduated yesterday, and a certain someone was number one in their class." Hannes said as he patted Eren's head. He just let it happen.

"I'm sorry Eren." Hannes said out the blue.

"What for?" Eren asked.

"I wasn't able to save your mother." Hannes responded.

"It wasn't your fault. We just didn't have the courage and strength to face it." Eren said.

Hannes grew shocked

"We just have to keep moving forward and learn from the mistakes of the past." Eren added.

*Time Skip*

Eren, Connie, Mina, and Thomas were on top of the wall setting up cannons. Eren was  putting gunpowder in the cannons. After Eren was done setting up the cannons, he sat down.

"I'm joining the Survey Corps.." Connie told Eren.

"Ok" Eren said

"Huh, you don't care that I'm joining." Connie questioned.

"I'll just tell you what told Armin and Mikasa." Eren said.

"What did you tell them." Connie asked.

"I can't stop you from doing what you want to do, but I'll support you." Eren answered.

"I'm pretty sure your speech at the graduation lit a fire with in him." Mina said while walking up to them.

"Hey, I chose to join the Survey Corps. because I wanted to." Connie told Mina.

"So, did I" Thomas added.

Eren just looked at them with neutral look on his face. Until Sasha walked toward them.

"Hey guys, don't tell anyone, I totally didn't just sneak into the officer's pantry and grabbed this." Sasha said as she pulled a pound worth of meat.

"SASHA!" Everyone yelled.

"We can all split it into slices. Just imagine the sandwiches we could make with this." Sasha said as drool began escaping her mouth.

"On second thought, I'll have some." Connie said.

"I would love some meat." Mina added.

"C'mon guys, get back to work, they'll find out if we just sit here." Thomas said.
