Chapter #2: New Faces

y/n's pov

Running my fingers through my h/l h/c hair I heave a heavy sigh. My deep e/c eyes scan my surroundings until my sister interrupted my focus.

"There's no need to be nervous little sister." Layla calmly spoke while keeping her attention straight ahead. I scoffed at her comment.

"Who ever said I was nervous? Quit being so noisy." My response earned an eye roll from the noirette.

As I took out my schedule Layla scanned through it over my shoulder. We only had a few classes together considering she was a senior and me being a sophomore. Sure she can be annoying but it's still a nice feeling to not be completely alone in a new place.

Ruffling my hair with a small smirk my sister walked in front of me. She made her way to a classroom that unfortunately wasn't mine.

"We'll meet up at lunch y/n/n okay?" Nodding quietly to Lily I watch her disappear into the room.
"Great now I'm all by myself." I thought sadly.

"This one huh? Well here we go I guess.." Entering the room I tuck a piece of hair behind my ear. I witness a very loudly filled classroom. The energy shifted immediately as I stepped in.

What's wrong with these people? Weren't they ever taught starring is rude..Trying my best to avoid their intense gazes, I make my way to the back of the class. My e/c eyes fixed strictly to the floor.

Finally when I take my seat everyone began to continue with their normal conversations. Taking out my spell journal, I begin going over a few enchantments in my head. My focus then shifts to a rather creepy looking man, who happened to be a clown? Maybe I'm not so weird after all..

"Mmm class today we have a new student joining us." He spoke slowly.

"Miss StarSparrow practices magic-how lovely." Chills went down my spine as he finished his little introduction. I sunk down into my chair even further once I realize he wasn't done.

"Y/n is actually the first student to attend our Hunter Academy that studies magic. So please be kind and show her around properly mm okay?" Ending his speech he then gave me a strange smile. Deciding it's best to stay on his good side I give an awkward one back.

Can this period please be over already. My eyes travel to the name plaque on the desk of who I assumed to be the clown man.

"Uh thank y-you Mr. Hisoka." I managed to mutter as calmly and cooly as I could. Whispers began to flood the room. Doing my best to block out the chatter I go back to my spells. Then the sweet sound of the bell rang to dismiss us.

"That wasn't too bad I guess it could've been wor-" I stop myself as I feel a gentle tap on my shoulder.

Okay maybe I spoke too soon. Adjusting the direction I'm facing I prepare myself. It's probably some new bully-a boy? My expression softens as I look at the boy who is now in-front of me. With a genuine smile he cheerfully waves his hand at me before speaking.

"Hiya! Y/n-it is right ?" He questioned hesitantly. Curious I give a nod.

"It's really nice to meet you, I'm Gon! I don't think I've ever met a mage before, you should show me some of your magic sometime." His words rang through my ears shocking me a little.

No one had ever taken interest to my magic before. They usually are so quick to judge or are terrified of my concept of it.

"Y/n you still there?" Tilting his head to the side Gon looked at me. Snapping out of my thoughts I then give my full attention to Gon.

"Sorry I just-" I shouldn't be so open to someone I've just met.

"Yea um-sure maybe sometime." Giving the boy a small smile his eyes sparkled with excitement.

"That's great! Well I'll find you at lunch y/n, catch ya later." Rushing off the green outfitted boy vanished. Honestly I couldn't stop the grin from spreading across my face. New faces aren't all bad after all.
