Uhh . . . hey there :D
Chapter 3: The Mindless Madness (Clash of the Hormones)
Zombie Gurl
Have you met Flora’s mommy yet? She’s really nice. Her name is Dora. And she loves her daughter very, very much. In fact, Dora loves her daughter so much that she had second thoughts about sending her away and jumped on the back of the U-Haul truck, going back in time with her! Dora never went back in time before, so this was a new experience. It was a scary experience. One of the reasons why it was a scary experience was because she accidentally let go of the truck while still going back through time. Oops.
So then Dora’s tummy started to bother her, but she managed not to throw up until she landed on the ground. And then she threw up. After that, she stood up and looked all around her. She was in a forest, all by herself! What was she going to do? Well, first she started walking until she saw a clearing, and in the clearing was a worn-down cottage. She knocked on the door, because that was the polite thing to do.
“Is anyone there?” she said, and pushed on the door a little bit. It swung open with a squeak, and Dora poked her head through the doorway.
Across the small room, she could see a dying fireplace that cast shadows in every single direction. North, East, West, South, and upside-down were all shadows, because there were that many. Dora walked inside after hearing no response, but then the door shut behind her!
She ran to the fire, the source of light, and cowered in front of it, suddenly realizing how cold she was. She was very cold. And then a scratchy voice spoke from behind her.
“What are you doing here, strange child?”
Child? Dora wasn’t a child. She was . . . well, actually grown-up women never tell their age, so never mind (she’s like pushing fifty). And who was he or she to call her strange? Humph!
“I am Dora,” Dora said. “I’m looking for my daughter, Flora. She came here in a big truck.” She paused. “We’re from the future.” Would that be too much?
“The future, hmm?” the voice said, growing closer. Dora still didn’t have the courage to turn and face it.
“Yes, the future,” she said and rubbed her hands together.
“That explains your peculiar appearance, I suppose. Are you a witch?”
Dora laughed. “Oh no, I’m nothing like that. I just want to find my daughter. I want to bring her back with me.”
There was a moment of silence behind her, and then a rhythmic thumping made her turn. As her eyes adjusted to the low-lighting, Dora saw a tiny old lady moving towards a chair. She carried a cane and whacked it against the ground in time with her right leg. The fossil sat down and turned to Dora. Whew, was she ugly!
“I can help you find her,” said the lady.
“Oh, would you? It would save me a lot of time and trouble.” Dora was so happy she found somebody to help her!
“Why yes. All I ask in return is for you to sign this.” The lady reached over to an old set of drawers and pulled out a thick piece of paper.
“Okay,” Dora said, and went right on over. “What does it say?”
The fossil-lady smiled a smile that had missing and rotting teeth that indicated she had not been to a dentist in a long, long time. “It’s just for you to help me that I may move around a little easier than I am able to now.”
“Oh, well I’ll sign it, then!” Dora liked helping people, and she wanted the old lady to feel better. So she signed the paper without reading what was written on it. The lighting was much too dark to read in, anyway.
