The next morning when Chester woke, Noelle was nowhere to be found. Even though he was hungover , he remembered parts of last night. Especially when he got to kiss Noelle. After making a loud obnoxious stretch, thinking he'd hear Noelle's voice scolding him down the hall, there was silence.

"Weird...wonder where she's at?" Chester said aloud to himself. He walked into the bathroom and saw a handwritten note taped to the mirror.

'Morning Sunshine,

Went for a run, and picked up some breakfast. Yours is in the microwave. I got called down to Warner to sift through some contract work for Jeff & the band. Looks like it may take most of the day. If you need anything, my cell is below:

310-555-9113
Talk soon,
Noelle'

Chester sighed. He then went into the kitchen to heat up his breakfast and used the home phone to call Noelle.

"Hey! You've reached Noelle! Leave a message, and I'll call you back!"

Chester smirked and decided to add some spark to his message.

"Noelle? Hey... you doin' alright?" Dan, an exec at Warner asked.

"Hmm? Oh, yeah! Yeah, I'm fine. Why do you ask?"

"You seem out of it..."

"Apologies, slept rough last night."

"I know just the thing to spruce you up! Come to my office."

Normally Noelle would turn down such an offer, especially if it came from a male executive, but the brunette knew Dan was gay, so she felt safe with him, and always trusted him.

A couple of minutes later Noelle walked down the hall into Dan's office.

"What gives sweetheart?" He asked placing an espresso pod into his portable espresso maker.

"Nothing, really. Just been wearing myself out lately with all the repairs I've made to grandma's house, keeping up with Jeff and his new band."

"I heard their new demos last night. That lead singer really is something special."

Noelle frowned. "Yeah... he sure is."

"I want to meet this kid, can you set something up?"

"I mean, I guess? I don't work for him."

"But you work for his A&R rep, Jeff, so in all actuality, you kinda do."

"Okay, what's your availability?"

"I'll print it out. Are you sure you're alright? Your eyes are all puffy and shit."

"Yes , I'm fine Daniel."

Dan walked around to the brunette and handed her a shot of espresso.

"1 heart attack, coming right up. I know you babygirl. You're not okay. Something's got you distracted."

"Fuck... that's strong." Noelle grimaced as she handed Daniel the mini coffee cup back.

"You'll feel like doing next years' taxes while running a marathon in no time."

"Was it obvious that I was distracted? I mean, do you see it interfering with my job?"

"No... there's nothing wrong with your performance... yet. Which is why I'm asking you now."

"It's... it's complicated." Noelle muttered.

"Look at that degree on the wall... I majored in Complicated, sweetie. Spill..."
