The Queen Anne

Deck 3

Phlipe's Diner

April 27

2030 hours

I straitened my tie as Erica, Trixie, Mike, Alexander, and I waited for the Mogilevskys at the "Please wait to be seated" sign in front of Philipe's Diner. When I was packing for the mission, I hadn't known that I had already grown out of my suit and that it was two sizes too small. Thankfully, Alexander was an expert in the field of suits, and he quickly bought one from the plaza that was a few decks up. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to take off the tag when Cyrus told us to get moving, so now I head to deal with a piece of paper rubbing my back.

The plan was that while we went to eat with the Mogilevskys, Cyrus would break into their suite. Then, Cyrus could steal the camera footage from their security room, (I was surprised a suite has its own security, but I guess rich people want their privacy,) and then go to their kitchen to look for other clues, in case the person who put the hydroflasksus put the camera in a loop (which Cyrus was almost positive about). Since Eric would most likely be with us to guard the Mogilevskys, and there were no other staff members other than Gilbert's intern, who would probably have his own suit, no one would know Cyrus was there.

While Cyrus was breaking in, we would be slowly goading the Mogilevsky to give us answers. Cyrus had given Erica a communication device to put in her ear, since she was the most responsible of us.

My stomach growled. I would have eaten by now at spy school, and I was already hungry from not eating for over 24 hours. Mike, who was leaning on the wall next to me, didn't look very good either.

"Hiya guys!" a voice sounded, and I turned and saw it was Bianca, and next to her was the rest of her family. Erica shifted into her disguise known as Samantha, and they joined our party and we all were seated at a long dining table. To the left were the adults, where Alexander and Mr. Mogilevsky where discussing suits, and Mrs. Mogilevsky and Eric were conversing about one of the family companies. To the right were the children. Bianca and Mike were sitting to my left and Erica sat across from me, with Trixie and Nico to her right. Erica plucked a slice of bread from the table and buttered it, which was our signal for, "Cyrus is in".

It was time to get a conversation going to see if they would let something slip. Thankfully they already did that for us.

"I'm glad you got better after your allergic reaction thing. Samantha and Trixie told us when they tutored us today," Nico told us. Erica gave a barely detectable nod, confirming Nico's words.

"Yeah, that wasn't very fun, especially since I haven't eaten for over a day and now forced to look at and smell other peoples' food," Mike complained.

"Luckily for you, there's a waiter over there within shouting distance. Waiter!" Trixie yelled.

The waiter came over. "I see you are ready to order?"

"Yes, thank you, " Mr. Mogilevsky informed him, looking up from his conversation. We all give our orders to him, and start resuming our conversation, which somehow turned out to be about the Avengers. We probably weren't going to get any answers for the rest of the night talking about the Avengers, so all hope rested on Cyrus's raid.

Suddenly, Erica announced, "I'm going to the bathroom, be right back." She got out of her chair and as she walked across the length of the table. Her shoulder slammed into mine as she tripped over something, tilting my chair back just enough so it could topple over. I fell with a loud thump as the other diners turned to see what the sound was. Erica was chorusing a series of "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!", as Mrs. Mogilevsky exclaimed, "Ben, Samantha, are you alright?". Erica helped me up as her hand brushed my ear, making my heart race.

Erica left to go to the bathroom with a final, "Ben! I'm so sorry!" and the conversation finally resumed. Suddenly a crackling noise in my ear nearly makes me fall out of my chair again. Everyone gives me a weird look, so I mumble, "Um, sorry. Thought I saw our food."

Erica's voice in my ear says, "Ben. You need to get out of there. Bring Mike, but Trixie and Alexander will just mess things up." I frown slightly, not just from the worrying request, but how Erica had broken her "don't-touch-other-people-unless-fighting-them policy" just to slip me a radio. Frankly, though, at this point I shouldn't have been surprised. Erica never stumbled unless she wanted too.

At the same time Erica gave those strange orders, Nico argued to Mike, "Hawkeye is the most efficient Avenger, obviously!"

Partly to Nico, but mostly to Erica, I ask, "Why?"

Nico replies, "Well, he can just sit in a tree somewhere and take out the bad guys quickly with his arrows, but everyone else has to go into hand-to-hand combat, which makes a great movie scene, but takes to long."

Erica replies at the same time as Nico. It takes a bit of effort to separate her voice from Nico's, but I could hear her say, "Grandpa got captured. He was about to tell me something about what he found, but then I heard fighting, Grandpa getting knocked unconscious, then the radio going dead." I could hear the tremor in her voice- it was both from fear, and anger. Her voice was now filled was urgency. "Get out of there. Now. I don't care if you bring Mike or not, just go!"

I quickly sit up, my chair scraping back. Not caring if I look suspicious or not, I say, "Mike, Trixie. I forgot my keycard in the suite. Can you help me get it?" Ignoring Erica's protests from the radio about how Trixie was not old enough, I grabbed Mike and Trixie's hand without waiting for a response. I could hear the Mogilevskys, Alexander and Eric yelling after me in confusion and how my food wasn't there yet, but I just kept going.

If someone could single handedly knock out Cyrus, then our new enemy was far more powerful then I could have imagined.

Dun dun dun! *laughs in cliffhanger* Sorry for not updating, I had the chapter ready last night, but then Wattpad was glitchy. I've entered the PJO wattys, so I'll try to wrap this story up soon.

Also, we're almost at 2K reads. Like WOW! I never thought my story would get this far. Thanks for adding this to your reading lists.

Now, there are probably several plot holes, but considering this was written with no real plot structure, this is not to bad, don't you think?

When writing this, I remembered how this is chapter thirteen. So, I'll be publishing it on Friday, so it can be "Friday the Thirteenth". Remember to not let any black cats cross your path!
