Good Samaritan Hospital

Washington, DC

April 22

1200 hours

"I didn't only come looking for you because of Erica," Trixie told Mike and me. "For years, I've suspected something strange was going on with my family, but no one would ever tell me the truth. And now it appears you might know what that is." She leveled a steely gaze at us, and for the first time, I could see part of Erica's personality in her,. "There's a hard way to do this and an easy way. Which would you prefer?"

"Easy," Mike and I said at once.

"Good." Trixie Hale smiled brightly. "I'm all ears boys. So start talking."

"Erm," I started, as I thought of how to phrase my next few sentences. I had been trained by Erica to have an attentive memory, so I had a good idea of what happened during the morning Alexander Hale told my parents I was a spy. Trying to recreate the moment, I told Trixie and Mike I would need some donuts first. Frowning slightly, she let me wait for the food before Mike and I could start to explain.

I took a bite of my strawberry donut and started talking. "I got accepted to 'Saint Smithen's Science Academy for Boys and Girls' 15 months ago. At least, that was what my parents and Mike thought." I paused to take another bite. "In reality, your father came to me at home while my parents at work, and said I was accepted into the government spy school, and I believed the lie. I had level 16 math skills, so I thought this was reasonable- once I got over the surprise. I was actually recruited as bait, but when I uncovered the mole in school, I was able to stay. This was how me and Erica met. She wanted find out who was the mole, and who was trying to kidnap/kill me-"

"Someone was trying to kill you even though you were a teenager?" Trixie exclaimed.

"Sadly, yes," I continued. "Since I was bait, the spy school people gave me 'advanced cryptography skills', so then I would be to good to pass up. Unfortunately, I got kidnapped, because the people tasked with catching the mole were incompetent. The principal, for example, is a complete nitwit, ironically, considering he runs a school for the intelligence community. And your dad, Alexander Hale, took other peoples' credit on missions."

Up to this point, Trixie was leaning forward, holding on to every word I said. "He was a fraud?" she frowned.

"Yes. Unfortunately, for a while, he had the top brass snowed.

"Well then that's why it was so easy to tail him," Trixie said.

"He is really  incompetent," Mike agreed.

"Anyways, Erica and I worked to together to find the mole, and I had found out the mole, Murray Hill, was part of an organization called SPYDER."

With Mike finally jumping in to help me, I took the opportunity to eat the rest of my donut. "Soon, Ben was on his first official authorized mission with his friends Zoe, Jawa, Chip, and traitor Warren. The principal had a fit when he heard that so many students were activated, including the one that blew up this office." Mike snickered, then continued. "Erica, her father, and grandfather, who is one of the best spies in the CIA were activated as well. This was were I found out Ben was a spy. After that, I was recruited as well. Eventually, Ben, Erica, Zoe, Ms Hale- yes, she is a spy for the MI6!- along with me defeated SPYDER, although it was mostly Ben. This is why SPYDER hated him so much and why SPYDER had a dart board with his face. He figured out and defeated SPYDER's plans every single time."

Trixie smiled at me. "Ben must be a very good spy to have defeated an organization." I blushed a light scarlet. "Well actually, it's quite rare to be even activated for one mission as a first or second year," I explained. "Most have been unauthorized or impromptu missions."

"Either way, Ben's a good spy," proclaimed Mike.

Smiling, I put another donut on my plate and started telling Trixie about the CROATOAN. "Then, when-"

Suddenly, the door was slammed open, and Erica walked in. Mike and I trembled as she stalked over to my bedside with Trixie's eyes following her. She gave Mike and I a cold stare and said, her voice hurt and sharp as ice, "You two are in big trouble."
