Beverley sat next to me on Maula's couch. Maula and I were watching 'Killer Sofa'. Even though there was no sofa in the movie. I looked down at the apologetic message I just sent. Brandon didn't respond yet.

Beverley looked at me sympathetically. I flipped my phone over on my lap. My legs were shaking. At this point, I didn't know what else to do.

"Are you okay?" Beverley asked.

I took a deep breath. "Not really. Brandon's pissed at me."

"Why?"

"Because I told him I needed this knife to break the curse on my family."

I opened my purse, and showed her that pocket knife. She touched the 'W' crest on the leather handle with her thumb. Then, she looked at me again, but curiously this time. At least, she didn't laugh.

Maula paused the movie and left the room. When she came back, she was holding a box of tissues. I grabbed one and wiped the tears that spilled down my face.

"Listen, Candy. He may be in his feelings right now, but he'll get over this eventually."

"You've got a point," I said, sniffling.

"I know. Let me get you a drink real quick."

She left the room again and came back with a white mug. I gently took it off her hands. She and Beverley stared at me in anticipation. I looked away from and sipped this creamy coffee. A few minutes later, I had a strong urge to call Brandon.

So, I called him. Maula and Beverley stared at me while I waited for an answer. I smiled when I heard his voice.

"What is it, Candy?"

"I'm sorry for what I said last night," I said taking another sip of my coffee.

"You don't have to apologize. It's not your fault you were lied to."

"Lied to? What do you mean?"

"I'll show you tonight. Bye."

After he hung up, I smiled. Thank God, he wasn't mad at me anymore. Maula's door swung open, and Axel came in. Maula and Beverley didn't react, but I looked at him incredulously. How the fuck did he get in here?

He came over here and hugged us from behind. Then, he walked down the hall, holding a box. When something fell on the floor, I got up. I grabbed a vial filled with a red liquid and hid it in my purse. Maybe someone would tell me what it was tonight.
