''You stay were you are!'' Karen yelled, running along the stone path.

The young squirrel monkey made a sound resembling a laugh and kept leaping through the trees. As the two approached the little hut at the side of the city, the monkey slipped and dropped what he was holding: a small black camera. The camera dropped onto the porch and slid into the hut. Karen walked into the hut and spotted the camera laying on the floor beside Johns suitcase.

''Yes!'' She said picking it up.

At that moment the monkey crashed through the roof; and fell straight on the radio transmitter standing in the corner.

''No!'' Karen gasped.

She could not make herself look. They all knew that the transmitter was their only hope. For the past three years, John has been working on it to find a signal. Just yesterday, he had said that the radio is starting to work. And now, because of her, they might never be saved.

Finally, Karen forced herself to look. A blinking light stared up at her. Without thinking she ran out of the hut. In the span of a few minutes, Karen was at the town square.

''It's working! It's working!'' She cried.

Jaymie looked up from the clay pot at her daughter questioningly.

''The radio transmitter. It's working!''

John froze.

''Is the red light blinking?''

Karen nodded.

At that John jumped up and ran to his hut, Karen hot on his heels. In a blink of an eye, they were at the hut. John crashed through the door and knelled beside the radio transmitter. A second later Jaymie, Eric, Rachel, and Bob came through the door.

''What's all this about?'' Eric asked, confused.

The four froze when they saw the bleeping red light. The group stared at the transmitter, until a crackling sound came from the speaker.

''Captain Davis? Captain John Davis? Roger? Captain Davis?'' A shaky voice asked.

John grabbed the speaker.

''Yes! Yes, this is Captain John Davis.'' He said, excitedly.

Karen could not overcome her happiness. Yes, she had grown to love their camp in the Amazon, beautiful plants, exotic animals, the shabby ruins. She smiled at the young squirrel monkey by her side, starring out the window in awe. At least she got to keep Joe. The girl looked around. Everybody was there. Her parents-Jaymie and Eric. Dr.Jasmine McNeil. Pilots John and Bob. Always smiling Rachel. Karen could not help admitting how much she will miss these people. How much she will miss the now memory of their adventure in the wild forests of Amazon.
